Description

Great Wall Paradise Villa

To some it is known as Great Wall Paradise Villa. To others it's simply known as the most stunning villa in the Great Wall area.

The home is built into the mountain at Ban Jie Gou and covers a total internal area of 8,000 square feet with 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. It occupies a private and exclusive valley location just to the north of the village.

The house is approached through a private driveway that winds and climbs 1km from the mouth of the valley to the villa, which nestles under the top of the mountain at 500 meters elevation.

The house is surrounded by rock formations on three sides with spectacular views towards the Great Wall. The valley itself is covered with natural forest and some evergreens, but mostly deciduous trees such as walnut, sweet chestnut and oak.

Entering the home, you're greeted by a very open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances, ample counter space and island seating. For more formal meals, take advantage of the dining room table. With its iconic chairs, this space can comfortably accommodate 8 guests. The open, wrapping floor plan allows for multiple entertainment areas in the large living room, highlighted by the piano and fireplaces.

The second floor is home to the living quarters. The spacious Master suite is highlighted by the large scenic view. Also featured is the king bed, walk-in closet, private bath with jacuzzi bath, waterfall shower, bidet and a double vanity.

In addition to the Master Suite, this level also contains three additional guest bedrooms; one with a bunk bed, and the remaining with King beds. All have luxury linens.

The stairway leads up to the third level and the rooftop balcony and event space with incredible views toward the Wall, and is surrounded by mountains and valleys on three sides.

The home has a fantastic balcony just off of the first floor which features a large entertaining area decked with hard wood, swimming pool and adjacent yoga and meditation sand beach, which is available in warmer months. The exterior of the property is terraced in local stone and planted with fruit tress such as apricot, cherry and plum.

The bottom level of the home includes a large communal lounge with full library, board games, TV and DVD player. Panoramic views can also be seen from the courtyard, which is planted with red maple! This level also contains four bedrooms; one with a king bed and private bath featuring rose shower, double vanity and private balcony. The remaining three guest bedrooms includes two with queen beds and one with twin beds.

The villa is approximately 55 km from Beijing airport and it takes just one hour to reach the villa on the expressway via the new G20 leaders summit centre at Yan Xi Lake. From there, you can enjoy a short but stunning drive through the mountains to get to the villa.

Due to elevation of the villa, the Great Wall is visible from the roof deck and upper floors. You can access the Great Wall at Jian Kou by hiking up from the village of Xi Zha Zi. This is a particularly beautiful and unrestored part of the Wall free from the hordes of tourists that visit the more commercial spots on the Wall.

Heading south, there is also a particularly beautiful valley walk from Jiao Jie He following the river to Sheng Tang Yu from where you can also access the Wall at the popular Mu Tian Yu resort.

Noted:

There are 2 full-time staff, a butler and maid (Mr. Zhao Shao Kai and his wife Mrs Jiang Xiu Ying) who live in the gatehouse. They look after guests, cook and clean as necessary.

Both of them cook Chinese food to a high standard and Mr. Zhou is also a trained teppanyaki chef.

Guests will be responsible for bringing up their own food, but the staff can cook and prepare all meals if required.

The best months for hiking are between October and and April. The mountains get overgrown in the summer. Mr. Zhou can lead parties on hiking trips for an unforgettable experience.

Mr. Zhou speaks limited English, but is very well liked by all who have had the pleasure to make his acquaintance.

Fantastic stay

The house is beautiful. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!”

The words "pure luxury" hardly sum up this home!

The location is by far the greatest aspect of the home, followed closely by the external architecture. Nested in the mountains very close to the Great Wall of China, you’ll see endless mountains covered in dense dark green forest from every window you look out of. At sunset, the beauty you’ll witness is very difficult to put into words. The driveway is a long, 1km windy road leading you into total privacy and the view of the home at the end of this driveway will leave you speechless every time you see it. It has 8 bedrooms and is 4 stories high with ample room for entertainment, including the rooftop deck with obvious stunning views and the pool on the lower deck. The short distance to The Great Wall of China was a highlight for me. There’s something extra special about staying in a home that is so closely located next to one of the wonders of the world.

I explored the wall on two separate occasions. The first time I went, I visited the renovated part of the wall. The housekeeper took me to an area that wasn’t as busy as the other entry points. Thank goodness for his local expertise! The housekeeper was wonderful and I enjoyed my stay at this home. 5 stars!”

A week to remember forever, living next to China's Great Wall.

A property of extraordinary style, that is located in an area of natural beauty, very close to the Great Wall of China. Turns out that winter is a wonderful time to visit. It's cold, but the sun shines and the sky is blue. We enjoyed hiking on top of the Great Wall (on a section with no other tourists in sight), skiing, ice-skating, and cozy evenings with home cooking using local produce. Unforgettable!”
