A week in wine country

The home is very beautiful but it is very dated. Upon checking in we found that the property was not well-kept. My husband and I spent our first day prior to our friends coming from out of town cleaning up the home. This was not what we had expected to be doing on vacation. The landscaping close to the home needed some attention and all of the windows and the grill were very dirty. The linens were all very dated and all of them were mismatched. We had a great time in wine country with our friends. Sadly we just did not feel the home was worth the keys and the money that we spent on it for the week. ”

Chateau Davancy

We a a wonderful experience at Chateau Davancy, the home reminds you of an Italian Chateau with Ventian plaster throughout. The grounds are breathtaking, surrounded by vineyards, and the added pleasure was the wild turkeys roaming the grounds!”

Shenandoah Wine Country Delight

This large beautiful European style estate set amidst rolling vineyards was the perfect getaway for my wife and I. The home could accommodate many more people but we just enjoyed morning coffee and evening wine by ourselves on the many terraces, patios and poolside. Since we had lived in Amador and Calaveras counties earlier in life we really enjoyed visiting both old haunts as well as the beautiful new Helwig winery that the owners of Davancy Chateau have built. Both food and wine were excellent. We have waited several years for this property on our Watchlist to come available and it was well worth it!”

Wonderful stay!

Davancy Chateau was a beautiful and spacious house. We had 11 family members from age 5 to 50's and everyone had a great time, especially with the swimming pool and playing pool at night. It was a fun, relaxing family time week. There is not a lot in the actual town of Plymouth, but that's OK, because there are many wonderful wineries nearby. Taste restaurant is terrific. Also, enjoyed white water rafting nearby. Kathleen was helpful for all of our needs. We would definitely go back to Davancy if giving the opportunity! ”

California's wine county at its Best!

Every time you think of wine country, Napa and Sonoma usually come to mind, but this Chateau immersed in the Sierra Foothill vineyard has nothing to envy these two places. It's a dream come true stay for any group that wants to experience a real vacation. The house is decorated with a Tuscan style that it's not only beautiful but easy to maintain. Every detail has been taken care of. The house is child-friendly, with a pool table, huge screen TV, and a game table too where we built a 1000 piece puzzle without the worry of having to move it to another area. Rooms are comfortable and the linens are top notch. The bbq grill is big and the area outside is fantastic to chill out and dine. The inside dining room table fits 10 comfortably. The kitchen invites you to cook and the house to stay, so plan to cook or cater when you go. My kids didn't want to leave, not even to go to a restaurant. The fact the house offers several areas to hang out gives each member of the family a space to relax without being disturbed. My favorite part was waking up to a magnificent view and walking along the trails surrounded by vineyards. We all agreed that this house was one of the best we have stayed in. We went for wine tasting at Helwig winery, great wine and service. On Dec 31st we made a request we expected to be attended on January 2nd because of the holiday and in less than an hour somebody came to service our petition. It was just what the doctor ordered: unwind from everyday stress, drink good wine, eat well (we like to cook) and spend some quality family time. Will go again in a heartbeat. ”

Davancy Chateau - Heaven on Earth!

There were six of us staying, and we had room for more. The property was amazing, and there was so much space we could all be together comfortably or could easily spread out as well. We enjoyed the surrounding wineries and day trips to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. The local store was more than sufficient for all of our needs, and the quaint cities of Sutter and Amador were so cute to stroll around and offered delicious meals as well. The pool was awesome and all of our questions and/or concerns (nothing major at all!) were quickly and cheerfully handled. People who have seen our pictures have inquired where it was and how they could rent it. The final event, the music and dinner at Helwig winery was so much fun. We all had an amazing time.
