June 2020Was not impressed
We were very excited for the trip, but we also understood the limitations due to the Covid19 crisis. Prior to arrival, we had called several times to make appointments for the gym and pools. It was very frustrating, as no one would answer the phone. I had to call 8 times to make gym reservations. Upon arrival, it took 1 hour to check in and the process seemed slow. When we got to the room, we discovered we were in the basement, with a patio outside the bedroom (which was nice) but the living room view was a concrete wall, giving the feel of a cellar. Thee property was dated and lacked the electrical outlets for today's travelers. We had an issue with a leak in the bathroom ceiling that we called to have fixed a the engineering team came and did not fix. It leaked for the entire week and we tried to call twice more on it and no one answered the phone! Not what we were expecting from a Third Home Property but we lived with it. The biggest issue we had was the lack of anyone answering the phone when on property. We needed to change our fitness center appointments but no one ever (in 3 days) answered the phone even though we knew the attendant was there. It became a joke, anytime we needed to call, we allocated 2-3 minutes just for someone to pick-up. They can blame Covid if they want, but this was not Covid related because I witness the fitness center attendant just ignoring the phone when we were in the gym. The only restaurant was Pizza Hut but they closed at 7 pm, really with such a large resort and no other restaurants in the area. The pool policy was inconsistent but the staff was friendly. We contacted the concierge about wine country openings and they did not seem to have a clue on who was open and who was tasting. We were on our own. We called to ask about hiking and were told there were no hiking trails in the area and we had to go to La Jolla. We discovered a hiking trail right off the property. The staff needs training on what is in the area. We ended checking out a day early due to the lack of service, overall frustration with the property and leak in bathroom. Needless to say, we will not ever return to this property or recommend. Again, we knew of the Covid and our expectations were already set low for this stay, but they even failed to meet our low expectations. ”
