Unique property with spectacular views

This is a truly unique property with expansive views of the San Juan Islands near the top of Orcas Island. Extensive grounds with whimsical accents. The cottages are small and comfortable but cozy and well-equipped. The host was most accommodating and helpful. There are many things to do on Orcas Island including hiking, kayaking, and whale watching. The quaint village of Eastsound is nearby. There are several excellent restaurants on the island. The road to the house is picturesque but steep and a good all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary. This is a great one of a kind property in a beautiful location.”

Best Views of all time!

I’ve traveled quite extensively over the years and seldom do I have that feeling of “Oh My God”. This property was one of those moments Views off the charts. Very cool vibe and one of a kind home that is very special in so many ways. It’s not the Ritz but total relaxation and tons of fun. Great property for two couples and teen age kids. Highly recommend and the owner Michael is awesome to work with. ”

Beautiful retreat with awesome views

This property was fantastic with amazing views you can only get from staying there. 360 degree expansive beauty from many vantage points. Island is gorgeous with surrounding water. Great little hikes, including property’s own art installations nearby. Fantastic water sports available as well as wonderful food in town. Loved shucking our own fresh oysters and touring the islands winery. Very comfortable accommodations in the various buildings. Complete privacy and tranquility surrounds you. Highly recommend.”

Back again

​We had the pleasure of returning to Orcas Island for a second trip and we are so glad we did! As always, Mike was such an accommodating and generous host. The cabins were in pristine condition and provide the perfect amount of space and seclusion. The view was even better than we remembered. No photograph does it justice. It’s an absolute ideal location if you feel the need to “get away from it all” – as there is no one in your view from this property, except the occasional woodpecker or deer. This island is incredibly special! You never know what can happen while you’re here. During our stay we had dinner in the bay and a group of transient whales came into the shallow water and gave us a little show. The locals informed us that has never happened before and it felt special to be able to witness it. There was plenty on the island to keep us busy so we didn’t feel the need to venture off into other parts of Washington. Make sure to check out Buck Bay Shellfish Farm where you pick and shuck your own local clams and oysters, shopping in Eastsound, Clever Cow Creamery (the lavender ice cream is to die for), horseback riding through Moran State Park, Orcas Moon Alpaca Farm, the Saturday morning farmers market, all the delicious local restaurants, and more! We were fortunate enough to stay over Fourth of July week and the town put on a spectacular fireworks show in the bay that we were able to take in from an aerial perspective. It was phenomenal! This all being said, none of these activities compare to when you have the good fortune of watching the sky fade through every color in the rainbow as you watch the most magnificent, breathtaking sunset over the San Juans from your patio. If you’re fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay at this property, you don’t want to pass it up. We highly recommend this location and hope to make it back in the near future. Wonderful Experience

Our stay at Eastsound was a wonderful experience. The view is outstanding high atop Buck Mountain. The mountain road is lined with daisies and foxglove and many deer. (Even a few Bambi's) The patio is a wonderful place to watch hawks fly, boats sail and small planes land at the Orcas airport. The sunset are very special also. The town of Eastsound is a charming place with many restaurant choices with local healthy produce and farm to table menu selections. Hiking, whale watching and kayaking were fun adventures. I highly recommend this experience especially since the owner was so accommodating.”

Absolutely perfect

The week couldn't have been any better if I wanted it to. The home was great even better than expectations, Mike was beyond wonderful host. He went above and beyond with leaving directions and things to do while on the island which was very helpful. I would recommend this house to anyone and everyone. The views are unbelievable and can't even put into words how breathtaking they really are, you can see Canada and the United States at the same time. The town was so great that we now want to retire there.”

Stunning Views

We thoroughly enjoyed staying on Orcas Island at this magical get away. We brought our older children with us who stayed in the separate cabin and loved it. The owners dining recommendations exceeded our expectations. We hope to return for a couples retreat very soon. ”

Phenomenal peaceful resbit!

My husband and I were looking for a secluded getaway. We found a pristine canvas of some of God's most beautiful handiwork. The setting was surreal, high above the clouds and the maddening crowds. The setting was gorgeous and we soaked in a view of the forest, the islands, and delightful sculpture artfully mixed in the landscape. The accommodations were wonderful and our host was so welcoming. Art and sculpture abound and it made it a special retreat. Town was a delightful trip down the mountain and was just close enough to be handy and just far enough give us space and peace. Great chefs are foumd in hidden places and fun art shops abound. Our favorite was Monkey's Puzzle which has an array of antique and hand made jewelry and clothing from Tibet, China and other wonderful places. You will find the shop owner, Sallie, a delight and a wealth of info about the island. The beautiful Moran State Park provided great hiking and biking. Finally, make sure to spend an evening at the Orcas Hotel by the ferry...Martin Lund retired from LA and entertains with his clarinet, flute and piano in a creative and elegant way amidst a fun historical setting. Orcas Island is one of the most delightful places we have visited. We would recommend highly to anyone who truly wants to be refreshed.”

Spectacular views from a wonderful Summer house !

We really enjoyed our stay here. Orcas Island is the best of the San Juan Islands - a artsy flavor in downtown Eastsound with fantastic restaurants. The house itself has the best view on the island. It is ideal for adult couples as each bedroom is located in a separate building. The house is about 12 minutes from town and located in a beautiful setting. I would recommend a four wheel drive vehicle as our front wheel drive car wasn't so cooperative on the last mile of the gravel roads. Bring your cameras !”

Lovely Getway, Stunning View, Magical Place

The owner’s of this property have created a magical place. The grounds are filled with surprises at every turn and the cabins are beautifully decorated – not to mention the view, oh the view!! The hot tub has perhaps one of the best views of any! The island itself was a wonderful get away – we saw orcas, swam, hiked, explored, collected treasures. It was a great family adventure. We have just one caveat – we convinced the owner’s that our 4 and 6 year olds could naviagate the rocky terrain and handle the main cabin’s dangerous stairs and the kids did actually do just fine. However, I definitely see the wisdom of restricting this to kids 10 years and older. The cabins are not kid proof, so we had to be extra vigilant watching them – which puts one out of relaxing vacation mode. Also, if our kids were a little older and able to stay in one of the other cabins, that would have been ideal. Despite this personal issue, the owner’s were extremely responsive, very kind and extremely helpful. This place is wonderful and I give it a very very high recommendation!!”

We particularly enjoyed the hikes on the property which happened to be adjacent to Moran State Park. The owner was delightful and so helpful with suggestions of things to do on the island and surrounding islands. It was a great trip!”
