September 2024RELAXING!!!!
The Scotch Highlands Home was well appointed, nicely designed and very convenient to both Cashiers and The Highlands . We enjoyed it so much we stayed there a lot and just relaxed , which was just what the Doctor ordered . The stocked Firewood supply allowed us to build a fire just about every night which was so cozy and relaxing . Both Master bedrooms were large and very nice . they were on different floors , which allowed me to sleep in and jus chill. The Folks at Mountain Club were very accommodating . We eve had a Bear visit us one morning and dig up the grass lookimg for grub worms . Our Stay was excellent and much needed..”

March 2024Amazing stay at Mountain Club at Cashiers
Our stay at Mountain Club at Cashiers was nothing short of spectacular! One of the highlights was walking to one of the tallest waterfalls in the Eastern US and having the entire place to ourselves. Not seeing a single other person around made the experience even more incredible! The peaceful surroundings and breathtaking views made it a truly unforgettable trip. Highly recommend!”

June 2024great location in the Western NC hills
The pictured clubhouse with pool and gym was a nice feature. House was spacious, but the best part was exploring the area, great hiking, lots to do, golf, boating, hiking, tennis, pickleball etc. Highlands is a 10-15 min drive, with lots of restaurants and shops. The clubhouse also had a concierge who made planning and booking a breeze. ”

September 2023Great Cabin in woods for Couples Get Away
Very well furnished 3 bedroom cabin. Bedding, towels, kitchen set up all top drawer. Cooked group meals which we enjoyed. Hilly area. Good exercise. Very nice waterfalls within 30 minutes drive Custard shop in cashiers, yum. And a really nice farmers market with some ready made meals which Makes some meals easy. Family time, friends and some hiking / walking. We were there with friends and many “smart talking” evening by the fireplace or coffee on deck. Great get away. Quiet area. Bring your own entertainment. ”

September 2023Great mountain getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. The home was very comfortable and well furnished, and the staff was most helpful with local restaurant recommendations. Mountain Club is well hidden so there's no traffic noise, and the owners we met at the Monday night happy hour were all welcoming. We love the location, close to downtown Cashiers and less than 30 minutes from Highlands. We will definitely be back.”

June 2023Another Amazing Week in Cashiers!
This was our second year returning to the Scotch Highlands at The Mountain Club of Cashiers! Even though we were in a different house, it had the exact same layout/feel and everyone felt right at home. The location is perfect for hitting hikes, heading into town, restaurants, etc. This year we flew, and it was an easy 1hour trek up the mountain from AVL. The pool/spa were great. Looking forward to coming again next summer!”

June 2023Stunning home and amazing management
We couldn't be more happy with our stay - the folks at the office are amazing, inviting us for Happy Hour, helping us with special requests and advice on what to do in the area. If there was a 6th star I'd give it. This is our 2nd stay and it keeps getting better. ”

July 2022Favorite Sapphire Retreat!!!
We travel to Sapphire every year to escape the heat. We love this Mountain Club and how helpful the resort staff are and each home that we have stayed in is equally nice. We like the porches, all in the woods, the clubhouse and most importantly, easy access to many delicious restaurants. We plan on returning any time we can find openings. ”

December 2022AMAZING Stay all around
I was there with our family of 6 (4 kids) and my 22 year old Godson - so there were 7 of us and we never felt crowded. It is just the coolest place - the fireplace was ALWAYS on because we loved the ambience of it. The back deck was amazing, the rooms were private. Steam shower! Full facilities (Pool, Sauna, steam room, huge gym) across the street. Snow tubing, skiing, snowboarding right across the street. Awesome fun little taverns right down the driveway. It was amazing, this will be a regularly recurring Winter and Summer visit for my FL family. You are in the middle of the most beautiful mountains, we hiked to waterfalls, we saw amazing vistas... The onsite staff were so friendly and helpful! And we were there in the winter and had NO issue getting in the driveway, they are kept clean and salted in the event of snow/ice to make everything safe and able to travel. I'd give 6 stars if I could. ”

August 2022Loved the House, Driveway too steep
The Mountain Club house we stayed in was at the top of a very steep long (100+ ft) paved driveway past 2 other houses snuggly built down hill on the same drive. We visited in August with dry roads so navigating was not a problem, even if a bit scary. The house was lovely, Comfortable, impeccably clean and well laid out so everyone had there own space. Internet was good and the kitchen stocked well enough for light cooking (like a hotel, not a lived in home). We loved the quiet location, although the view was only trees. Unfortunately the driveway problem was created by who ever designed and built these homes without consideration or practical understanding of vertical navigation. However, the situation could be improved by adding and leveling the parking area at the top so there is more room for larger vehicles and space to navigate with luggage. If I had not caught my rolling suitcase when unloading the car it could have quickly gained enough momentum and trajectory to break a down hill neighbor’s window. Bottom line. This was a lovely place to visit in summer (and good weather) to enjoy the quiet mountains with scenic drives, waterfalls and local charm galore. But in winter or even a heavy rain, the long steep driveway is an unpredictable hazard (in my opinion). ”

June 2022Wonderful Week at Mountain Club in Cashiers!
Our family had an absolute blast at this home, the Mountain Club, and in Cashiers in general. The property is well appointed, and includes everything needed for a perfect week. We enjoyed fires in the fireplace in the morning, and hiked many trails and saw lots of awesome waterfalls in the day. The Ingalls grocery is just down the street, and the restaurants were only a 5 minute drive. Linda, at the Club house, was very nice and helpful! Don’t forget to check out Fairfield Lake, just down the road, for a picturesque kayak ride! The home was perfect and we will be back!”

Linda the coordinator was awesome very attentive and . House beautiful and well maintained. Feel blessed and grateful to have spent some time in the mountains in this home. Family time and corporate meetings. Covid 4 stars due to crowding of ski area and tubing area. waited 3 hours in line for a spot the next day to tube.. Be aware crowded during holidays. Many beautiful places to hike nearby. overall 6- 7/10 rating. vs other 9-10/10 third home stays. ”

September 2020Beautiful peaceful week in the NC Mountains
The property is exquisite with every possible amenity. It is so nice we didn’t want to leave to go out. The day it poured rain was the best! We sat on the screened in porch and read. It was like being in a luxurious tree house. We loved the area as well. We will definitely return! ”

August 2020Mountain Club Sapphire Valley
The Mountain Club personnel were beyond fabulous. We had a superb stay. I hate to give such high recommendations because I hope to stay again and find space. I lived in Cashiers/Sapphire Valley for 6 yrs. It hasn't changed much which is good. Ingles grocery and the Farmers Market has all your supplies. Really good restaurants. Linda Rogers and staff took excellent care of us. Wonderful hiking. We started at smaller home, 3beds, 2 baths. 2 Queens 1 King. Nice. They moved us to larger unit. 3Beds, 3.5 baths. Great. Double decks and double livingrooms...upstairs and down.”

August 2020Scotch Highlands Home
My husband and I were so happy with our choice of vacations here at Sapphire, NC for our first exchange with Third Home! The house was in a beautiful neighborhood close to Cashiers and The Highlands. We will definitely be back! Thank you Third Home for a fabulous week in the mountains of North Carolina a!!!”

July 2020great mountain cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Scotch Highlands . . . the little things made the difference. Very thoughtfully appointed rental: paper towels, cold water and soft drinks, iced beer mugs, night lights, CLEAN, wood stacked in the fireplace ready for a fire, very attractively decorated. And well located, only 5 minutes from the grocery store, and 8 minutes from the center of Cashiers. The front desk was extremely responsive for any request. Not a mountain "view", but private woods view from the back deck.”

June 2020Great Spot
Our house was well appointed and had everything we needed. We had a great time and look forward to many more visits. The little pool was perfect and we used it every day! Great location. Nice staff. Very helpful!!”

May 2020Perfect Hideaway during the 2020 Pandemic
The house is located near Cashiers and Highlands. The area is beautiful and posh. Great restaurants around. We enjoyed white water rafting and zip lining near Ashville. The communication with the manager of the property was excellent. The house had all that our family of four needed to stay safe and to enjoy our mountain vacation safely after the quarantine. Two things that can be improved are that the internet connection is very poor. We had to go to Cashiers to take our business Zoom meetings from our car. The second one is that the house is not impeccable. Many items need to be replaced and it needs a good cleaning. ”

August 2019Mountain Retreat
This is our third summer spending a week at the Mountain Club with two other couples enjoying a respite from the summer heat. The staff is wonderful and readily make reservations and recommendations. The shopping and dining in the area is top notch. The homes are perfectly appointed and very clean. This year we also took advantage of some pool time! Golf, tennis and boating are easily arranged. ”

June 2019Heaven on Earth
Wonderful, well maintained and comfortable mountain cabins situated in a private clubhouse community with amazing, prideful and friendly staff that combine for the perfect getaway in the mountains where you have limited cell service, but internet and home phone if you need it, but limited distractions to make the most of your time with family and friends. Left, right and straight across from the mountain club are endless adventures that we enjoyed. Thank you to Linda, Earl, Rachel, Amy and Carlos for everything, y’all made us feel at home, thank you ”

December 2018Great Mountain Trip
We had 2 separate 3br units and everything was great. The houses were as seen in the pictures and had plenty of space. The only issue we encountered was very poor/spotty internet. While everyone wanted to unwind it was still frustrating to not be able to get Internet to stream shows and check the occasional work emails, etc. Other than that everything was great. Will return. ”

December 2018Fantastic trip to Cashiers!
Great trip to Cashiers. The Mountain Club is beautiful and is in a superb location. You can ski right across the street and there's an abundance of hiking all around. There's probably 20 waterfalls within a 30 minute drive. Highlands is a town that is certainly worth checking out while you're there -- great restaurants, shops, etc. The homes are large and have everything you need. We had 8 folks in the home and never felt cramped. There's also some great amenities at the clubhouse. The Carolina mountains make for an excellent retreat and are worth checking out if you've never been!”

December 2018Everything you could want, nothing more. Just perfect!
Mountain Club is just wonderful, it has everything you need and nothing you don’t for a quiet family stay in the mountains. Too many great things to mention - the great houses with fireplace (and plenty of wood), Clubhouse, friendly staff, and excellent proximity to beautiful scenery, Highlands, and Cashiers close-by (really great Ingles close by!). The staff is really top notch, very friendly and helpful, when my step-dad and father-in-law were looking to play golf (in the heart of winter), all of the courses were closed due to weather. The concierge at Mountain Club was kind enough to call someone she knew at a private club and get them on...they had the course to themselves and ended up with great weather!! Will always remember this trip, and we will be back 100%”

September 2018Nice Escape to the mountains
Our family of 6 stayed comfortably in this two story well built home. The furnishings were nice and the place was clean. The kitchen lacked a few things to make it ideal for cooking a lot of meals. So, we took the opportunity to dine out and had some great meals. We recommend The Orchard in Cashiers and The Library in Sapphire Valley. We visited both towns of Cashiers and Highlands while staying there. Our children are 11, 10 and 3 and we easily hiked Bridal Veil falls, Dry Falls, Silver Valley Falls, nd Whiteside Falls. We also toured the Iron Bridge and falls at Bull Pen. We went to Sky Top Orchard for prime apple picking and the apple cider doughnuts! My ONLY complaint about this place was the lack of internet and cell service. This may be great for some so you can escape on vacation but I had planned to catch up on some work and was unable to do while at the cabin. I had to go to the clubhouse or drive into Cashiers for service. It was a great quiet get away though.”
Max H.
August 2018Central location for Highlands-Cashiers-Sapphire
My wife was impressed with the cleanliness and quality features of this comfortable complex. We found the hike around the neighborhood challenging enough, when we did not feel like chasing waterfall hikes closeby. Many good restaurants to be found within 3-15 mile radius! Plenty of adventure options for those so inclined”

August 2018Escape the Heat, Relax and Recharge in the Smokey Mountains
If you are looking for a place to relax and recharge you can’t go wrong at the Scotch Highlands Home at the Mountain Club at Cashiers, North Carolina. This two-story cabin is light and comfortable with all the comforts of home, including filtered water, a real wood-burning fireplace, a variety of reading materials and a screened in porch where you can sit and enjoy a meal or just kick back and talk with family/friends. An abundance of hiking trails will lead you to such natural wonders as parks, mountain peaks and waterfalls so bring your cameras. A schedule of planned activities for the week, awaits you in your cabin, including such activities as visits to the famous Biltmore Estate in Asheville, an old fashioned train ride, client appreciation get together/pot luck, etc. Though the area is home to an assortment of wild animals such as bobcats, bears, deer, etc. we did not see any of them during our stay. If you grow tired of relaxing visit the little town of Highlands (about 15 miles away) where you can get a bite to eat, visit the shops and pick up some interesting and unusual bargains and pay a visit to a couple of waterfalls (don’t miss Bridal Veil falls — it is gorgeous). So escape the heat and get out and enjoy the scenery. You will be glad you did.”

July 2018Mountain Trip with the Family!
Just returned from second trip to The Mountain Club. Great get away from the summer heat with the family! The house is very well set up with plenty of space for the kids to run around inside and out. Lots to do in the area, hiking, boating or just hanging on the patio.”

We had the pleasure to stay at Scotch Higlands, N.C. for our second visit at this location. The house was complete and up to expectations as usual. It was great to be staying in such nice house that was close to shopping, site seeing, and good restaurants ! What a wonderful treat to go from 98 degree daytime weather to a high of 82 degrees.( 65 degrees(at night). We will be back again !”

November 2017Great escape!
The Scotch Highlands Home at the Mountain Club at Cashiers was a great escape in November. We had perfect weather while we were there, and the trees colors were changing. It was absolutely beautiful. The house was so nice with comfortable accommodations. Some restaurants were closed since we went the first weekend of November, but we still got to enjoy Slab Town Pizza and Randevu. Mountain Club is a great choice of somewhere to stay if you are looking to go to the mountains for the week or weekend.”
Jesse W.
July 2017Great family getaway!
My family and I enjoyed a week at the Mountain Club in Mid July. It was a wonderful break from the heat and hustle of life. There are several top rated golf courses in the area that we enjoyed, and also great shopping, dining, and hiking to numerous waterfalls in the area. The house itself was comfortable and had enough space so that the kids could entertain themselves while we relaxed. I look forward to our next visit.”

October 2014Enjoyed mountain club
The mountain club home was great...nicely appointed and well maintained. Located just 3 miles from the center of cashiers, it was also close to great fly fishing and spectacular hiking. We happen to be there on a perfect fall week with the tree colors at their maximum. We will go back.”
