August 2024Beautiful, quiet country home a short walk from village
We truly enjoyed our week here in Aups. The home and pool are quite nice and a great place to relax in the country. It was about a 15 minute stroll into town in the mornings for breakfast and some nice walks. We hope to come back soon.”

September 2023Great stay in Aups!
Christophe was a terrific host and answered all our questions leading up to our stay in his lovely restored farmhouse in Provence. The home is a bit rustic as you'd expect and perfectly blended into the surrounding countryside outside the quaint village of Aups. It was a great central location for everything we wanted to explore in Provence and even for day trips into Nice and Monaco, Antibes and Cannes, St Tropez and more. The Gorges du Verdon is an absolute must visit and just 20 minutes away from the house to one of the major kickoff points to this wonderful region. If you stay here, be sure to check out Villecroze and Tourtour. Tourtour is a wonderful village just 15 minutes away with several Michelin restaurants and great shopping. The kitchen was great for the couple of meals we prepared at home. On clear nights, be sure to take advantage of the stargazing from the backyard as it's second to none. The pool was a great bonus to staying here as well. There are at least 10 vineyards within a half hour drive from the property and of course many more within an hour's drive. Would recommend to anyone looking for an adventure with Provence, especially if you value a very private home to retreat to after days of exploring!”

June 2022Picture perfect
Large, quiet, lovely farmhouse just a few minutes from the quaint town of Aups with nice restaurants and weekly market. The pool was perfect for our kids. We went to the Gorge du Verdon twice to kayak and paddleboat. The recommended vineyards were amazing. There are countless cool villages to visit each day. We also spent a day in Aix and a day at St Tropez. We flew in and out of Nice which is about 1.5 hours to the farmhouse. We hope to rerun someday. ”

Aups was a perfect location for exploring the beautiful small towns in the region. The home was modernized inside and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views are gorgeous from the home and the pool. We enjoyed our stay very much and the owner and his property manager made sure everything was well taken care of for us. ”

October 2019French farmhouse
The country farmhouse was just perfect for us. The charming village of Aups was an easy walk for the 4 of us in our 70’s. Aups is centrally located for easy day trips. The kitchen was very accommodating and we surely enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in the evenings. For a private, serene countryside getaway this is it! Mick & Renee”

September 2019Charming , comfortable farmhouse
We spent a delightful week at this charming farmhouse. The house is located at the end of a dirt road that can easily be missed when you first come here. The advantage then is the beautiful views and isolation that you gain once you are there. Most evenings were spent sitting at the pool and watching the sun set before sitting down to dinner at the large outdoor table with views over the valley. The town of Aups is just a short 5 minute drive or a 15 walk. The weekly market is terrific and the small hill towns in the area are lovely ( don't miss Tourtour). .The only issue was not enough towels. This might be a difference between French and USA expectations. In fact, the house had a bath and hand towel for each of our guests. However, all 4 of the women mentioned that they needed 2 towels when they washed their hair. If you wanted to swim, you would then need a towel for that. The house had everything else we needed. We would certainly recommend this house for a delightful, low key vacation.”

October 2018Relaxing beautiful week in Provence
We had a delightful week in Provence. The home was clean with new finishes and the setting was stunning! We enjoyed exploring the area even though it was the end of the busy season (which is usually our favorite time to travel to an area). Each day brought a new experience as we explored the surrounding villages. For this trip it was just mom and teenagers and we felt comfortable the entire time. ”

Our one week stay (6 adults) was fantastic!! A serene setting, amazing views. Farmhouse overlooks a valley, surrounded by abundant olive trees and the Alps in the distance. Beautiful in ground pool. House is comfortable with basic appointments. There are 4 Bedrooms 1 king with full bath & shower. 3 additional bedrooms: (2 full and 1 with small twin beds). shared a toilet room and separate tub/sink room. 1/2 bath 1st floor. Loved our day trips to Verdon Gorge+ Moustiers Ste Marie, St Tropez, Monaco, local vineyards and surrounding quaint villages. Outdoor market days in Aups center were delightful. The 1 shower shared by 6 adults was at times a challenge but we loved the house, had a fantastic time and would love the opportunity to stay again. Upon arrival we had a visit by the property caretaker who offered his assist should we have needed anything during our stay. Many thanks to the owner for a lovely experience.”

October 2017The Best of Provence
Beautiful location in a wonderful small town. Very quiet rural location, but it is an easy walk to the town. Driving to surrounding villages made excellent day trips. House not fancy, but very functional. Enjoyed our stay there very much. ”

April 2018Pleasant stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the farmhouse--apart from some uncharacteristically bad April weather.. Thanks to earlier reviews our expectations were not of luxury accommodations; the amenities are basic but perfectly serviceable. The owner was helpful and communicative, and we never needed help from any of his on-site resources. The region is beautiful and Aups is a reasonable place from which to explore it. We would not hesitate to return for another visit. ”

September 2017Fabulous French Farmhouse in Aups France
We had the best time touring Provence from this centrally located, quaint French farmhouse. It has four bedrooms of decent size on the main floor, a combined living-dining-kitchen area on the downstairs floor leading out to the garden and the pool. The property has fruit-bearing olive tress, fig trees and a grape vine. The host's friend picked fresh figs and grapes for us a number of times during our 2-week stay. While admittedly not luxuriously appointed, it gave us a great experience with local charm. The views, the pool, the proximity to Aups with its wonderful restaurants, Saturday ,market, shopping and charm, all were welcomed. Aups is 20 minutes from the Gorges du Verdon (where we kayaked the entire gorge),and less than 2 hours from Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez, Marseilles and Agivnon. We visited all of these. The castles, churches, Roman ruins and the landscape were all charming. Christophe is a wonderful host who made sure everything was explained. He is accessible and gracious. We can't wait to come again!”

May 2017Nice.... However, not the ThirdHome standards we were used to..
This property in Aups is set in a beautiful location and is a wonderful launching point to explore the many surrounding villages in Provence. The grounds afford a phenomenal view of the valley and olive groves nearby. The home, however, is very simple and the amenities are basic. The rooms are modestly appointed, with beds low to the ground. Sheets pillows and towels were clean but very old and mismatched. Bathrooms did not have fresh supplies of all toiletries, including toilet paper and bathsoap. While several details are not up to the ThirdHome standards we have experienced, the home was clean. We were asked to leave $75EUR for housekeeping service upon our departure, which should be mentioned in the property description. The host was very responsive and provided good recommendations about surrounding villages, restaurants and wineries. The town of Aups is charming, albeit quiet, and the access the home provides to the greater Provence area was its most appealing feature.”

May 2017French Farm House,
We had a very pleasant week at a very beautiful spot in Provence. The location is excellent for a week of touring the area. Aups is a lovely town. The house was adequate and serviceable but not, in our opinion up to Third Home standards in terms of amenities and quality. Everything was very basic, towels clean but old, beds were old, very low to the ground. No closets so we spent the week living out of our suitecases on the floor. Basics like paper towels and even toilet paper in short to no supply. We had to move the roll between bathrooms. A nice fireplace but no firewood was available. Clean but certainly not spotless and not up to resort quality that we understood was the standard for Third Home properties. We recommend the home to others as long as they understand the limitations of the property. Doug and Patty”

April 2017Fantastic Family Friendly holiday home!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Aups. The farmhouse was well equipped, had amazing views and was perfect for a family holiday. Our kids loved to play amongst the olive trees and on the tree swing and we enjoyed the safety of the property and the stunning weather - even in April! We would love to come back during the "pool" season so we can enjoy the gorgeous pool and loungers with such a lovely view - the kids will too! Highly recommended!”

December 2016Great location
The house is spacious and its located in a quiet rural area of Aups. Peaceful and Ideal location, if you aim to visit other villages in beautiful Provence. We booked the New Year’s week and enjoyed the fire place and cooking most nights as restaurants in the area were a bit scarce during festive season. Christophe was very responsive and sent the handyman to fix the TV that was not working. It is a shame that was too cold for the outside dining and swimming pool, the views are one of the best features of the property. Overall we enjoyed our time very much.”

October 2016The Best of Provence!
Our stay in Aups could not have been more perfect. The town is an easy walk for coffee and croissants and had a lovely market twice during the week we were there. We loved exploring the areas around Aups: hiking, shopping, eating etc and found it a comfortable base. We ate most dinners at the house after long days away and the kitchen was perfectly outfitted to cook anything. Christophe was easily available by email and his manager Remy came over to introduce himself and offer suggestions of visits to make in the area. We all want to return to this property one day soon! ”

April 2016Wonderful!
The farmhouse is exactly as described. We loved the area and the wonderful market in Aups. Since we spent three weeks there, we really felt at home. The location is perfect for exploring Provence. We took several day trips, the most memorable being to Avignon. We look forward to returning in the future. Cecilia Kempton”

Great location in central Provence to explore wonderful villages, centuries old historical venues and dining experiences - OH the FOOD! Great house with everything 3 couples would need for a fun and immersive travel experience. Private location with great sunset views across the Provencal countryside. Within walking distance to Aups - easy day trips to Avignon, Nimes, Arles etc etc. Thank you Christophe for your hospitality!”

September 2014Cutest French Cottage in Rural France
I have always only imagined what it would be like to stay in a cute French cottage surrounded by olive trees, close to a quaint rural village and to then saunter into town daily to buy fresh croissants. Well for one whole week we actually lived that dream. The cottage has a lovely large open plan kitchen and living area and the kitchen is well equipped with SO many pots and pans ( we LOVED that!) and all the necessary crockery and cutlery to cook up a storm. There is a lovely large Tuesday morning farmers market in Lorgues ( we missed the Aups one on the Saturday due to our late arrival) and we bought a weeks supply of food due to the incredible variety and quality. The house lends itself to socializing around the kitchen table and that is what we did every evening for a whole week. We did a great day trip from Aups through Tourtour to Ampus then Chateaudouble and on to Bargeme. At Bargeme there is not much commercial activity ( but DO visit it) but if you pack a picnic lunch this is a good spot to have it. Then travel on to Castellane and then all along the Verdon river to Moustiers- Ste-Marie and then home. That trip along the river ( and Grand Canyon Du Verdon) will blow your mind. This is a full day outing but so worth it. Make time for villages such as Tourtour, Cotignac, and a drive on the west side of the lake past villages such as Lac de Sainte Croix. Nice lavender fields. Set your GPS on shortest route sometimes and you will discover gems as you go through paths only travelled by the locals. Wine tasting and the wine tour at Thuerry wine estate just outside the beautiful village of Villecroze was a delightful experience. The lady at the tasting room, Sandy, was a delightful hostess and you are bound to love her. She spoke English very well. We fell in love with this cottage with its green shutters and we fell in love with this area. We cannot wait to go back. As we left on the Saturday morning the Aups village market was underway and it looked fantastic. Thank you for sharing your delightful farmhouse with us.”

July 2014Aups
I found my stay at Aups to be excellent and the owners were very helpful indeed. They sent a great little e-mail package with details on almost everything from restaurants to days out that was really helpful. The property is very nice indeed and ideally located for the local town, the lakes and also the Gorge, which is spectacular. The property itself was clean and had everything needed to make it a comfortable stay. The garden and views were great. The local town was very good with a nice market on Wednesday's and Saturday mornings. I recommend a trip to the Lac St Croix and the Gorge and also the local town of Tourtour. All in all it is a lovely little place to stay and also to explore the surrounding areas. I would go again. ”

June 2014House in Provence
We appreciated the location a lot. Visited all the villages around. Lac Ste-Croix is a magnificent place to go in the gorge du Verdon. Aups village and Tourtour are two very nice villages. The markets on Wednesday and Saturdays bring a lot of action in the village. The house is comfortable and had everything we needed. Remy and his wife welcomed us on our arrival and were very helpful. The temperature was great. Thank you very much for sharing this great place!”

June 2014Home in Aups
This charming cottage was a dream come true. The house has been recently renovated and is in pristine condition. Every effort was made to provide a comfortable retreat. The location is ideal for visiting other villages and breathtaking views. Aups itself is a village of antiquity and historical significance. Every turn in the road was a photographers delight. There are many restaurants, the food was delicious and the residents warm and welcoming. ”

September 2013French Farmhouse
The structure and location of this quaint French Farmhouse were perfect for visiting the regions vineyards and small hillside villages. It was somewhat difficult to locate and the wifi was very finicky and didn't work half of the time. Bedroom Furnishings and clothes storage left a bit to be desired but the kitchen and living area were comfortable and well equipped. The home seems to be furnished more like a rental property than a second home. With some updated matching bedding and linens and a dresser and uncluttered closets, I think this home would have made a much better impression. If you're not picky you'll enjoy your stay.”

September 2013BEYOND FABULOUS!
We had the most amazing time....the house was perfect in the best location so we could use that as our base to travel for 2 weeks all around Provence to the many wonderful villages. Our host was very helpful and gracious...enjoyed our communication with him. Would go back tomorrow and live there! LOVED IT!!!!”

June 2013Our family stay in Aups
The week that we stayed in this home in Aups was perfect. The home has been nicely updated with a very clean and well appointed kitchen and new master bathroom. There were 6 adults in our party and we never felt crowded. We enjoyed several meals outside on the back lawn where the view was lovely. The caretaker met us when we arrived and was most helpful. The home is a perfect walking distance to this very sweet and not too touristy village. We liked the location because it was close to The Var which has outstanding natural beauty but also to more villages and even wineries. There was something for everyone!”

Great place! If you are looking for a different vacation in France go to this property. It is a farm house at la provence located in a small village near an spectacular canyon, fields of Lavanda, and small beautiful towns. The house is perfect. Completely renovated with a great kitchen, garden, views and its own olive trees. ”

September 2012Our stay in Aups, Provence
Six of us, three couples, spent a most pleasant week at Aups, Sept. 29-Oct.6, 2012. This old French farmhouse has been very nicely updated with modern conveniences. It is located in the middle of olive groves and fig trees with a magnificient view to the south, in the countryside, but only 5 minutes from the center of Aups. It was charming, warm and cozy. Remy, a gentleman who looks after the property, was most helpful. The information and directions provided by the owner was complete and thorough in every detail. We recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience the real Provence.”

Glorious France!
Nancy and I just returned from two glorious weeks in France where we stayed at the farmhouse in Aups for one week. We had a wonderful time. During the months prior to the trip, we were in regular contact with the owner, Christophe Petit, a charming Frenchman who lives in Brooklyn New York and we even had him and his wife over to our apartment for a drink some months before we left. He was very helpful with advice and emailing lots of info to give us a good chance to plan our local itinerary. The house, surrounded by hundreds of olive trees, and the property are lovely and has all the facilities (dishes, cooking utensils, towels, indoor and outdoor chairs) we needed. We had help from the charming man who takes care of the outside property (he dropped off a bunch of cherries one day) and a manager who is in charge of the house. The manager speaks English fluently while the outside caretaker speaks only French. Since we speak French we had no problem. He gave us some good advice on local restaurants and road directions). The unspoiled town of Aups is delightful, with few American tourists in June, (mostly French and British) and a large market day on Wednesdays where they sell everything. The lady in the grocery store was helpful in directing us to the house on the day we arrived). In the area there are fabulous markets every day in different nearby towns less than a half-hour away. Speaking French is of course helpful but many vendors speak some English. We bought all our fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and woodcrafts, sandals, blouses at these markets and always had breakfast in the garden and often had lunch there as well. There are many excellent restaurants (in varied price ranges) in Aups about five minutes drive from the house and a superb and expensive haute cuisine restaurant nearby in Tourtour that is well-worth the dining experience). There are lots of places to visit nearby where you can walk through so many charming towns with medieval houses, an 11th century abby that is magnificent, the sublime town of Moustier, home of the famous ceramics (with a vast market day on Fridays) and especially – the Gorge de Verdon. The giant Gorge is only a half-hour drive from Aups and you can go swimming and boating there, as compared to the Grand Canyon in the U.S. You can have lunch in an inexpensive café overlooking the Gorge. We spent some wonderful days before and after the week in Aups in Paris, Nice, Villefranche and St. Jean Cap -Ferrat. We flew from New York to Paris, took the TGV to Aix-en-Provence where we rented a car. Then we drove two easy hours to Aups over good and well-marked roads, stopping at towns along the way. After our week in Aups, we drove back to Aix, returned the car and took the TGV to Nice, where we flew back to NYC. In Nice we savored the best bouillabaisse and paella we’ve ever had. Hope this is helpful. We highly recommend this Aups home to everyone who wanats a true French experience and would be pleased to speak with them if they wish. Best regards, Dennis”
