Description

Discover the beautiful and historic White Mountains of New Hampshire, in the uniquely delightful destination spot of Bretton Woods. With an iconic history dating back the early 1600's when sailors marveled at the white pale colors of this extraordinary mountain range (the highest peaks in the northeastern USA), and the great explorer Darby Field whose curiosity led him to first climb its 6288-ft peak that would later give its name as Mt Washington), intrigue for its natural beauty mystified everyone. Then, in the 1900's private railcars brought the elite from New York and Philadelphia desiring to escape the city for a serene vacation, and to this day, this natural jewel is still sought after by those in the know. World famous for its cog railway that leads to the top of Mt Washington, tens of thousands of adventurers come to hike, climb, ski and photograph it. The peak is part of the Presidential Range, whose peaks are named after early presidents, which merges into part of the White Mountain National Forest offering 770,000-acres of pristine paradise. Among the forests' scenic mountain passes and notches, one can find trailheads for short and longer multi-day hiking and other adventure activities - the top recommended musts are, visit to the Mt Washington Auto Museum and Gallery, its Cog Railway Transportation Site, Lost River Gorge in Kinsman Notch, the Conway Scenic Railroad, the Flume Gorge, the Hartmann Model Railroad Musem, and the Hobo Railroad of restored vintage train cars. Stroll through the enchanting village of Bethlehem, a lovely hamlet with notable distinctive arts and crafts sprinkled with Victorian and Colonial era homes. Explore the lovely historic village-town of Lancaster, the Old Man on the Mountain geological site, and the New England Ski Musuem - all worth seeing!

Tucked away within this mountain paradise is the cozy inviting Moose Lodge and Cabins that sits on 32-acres bordered by the National Forest with the crystal clear Ammonoosuc River as its backyard. Surrounded by a serene natural setting of gorgeous wetlands, beaver ponds, vernal pools, freshwater streams, balsam fir, red spruce forests, maple groves and riverfront acreage, it is a Certified Wildlife Habitat of which the owners are working with local experts and the Federal government to ensure the preservation of this unique biological diverse land. With a plethora of adventure awaiting you, along with fun activities ranging from on-site river tubing, hiking and cross-country trails, boating, fishing, and fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities, this rustic luxury property provides guests with so many appealing features.

This little slice of heaven of a property is the newest of three residences at the Lodge, and was inspired by a yurt, and its striking architectural design is centered around a unique spiral staircase carved around a dormant tree with its roots showing in the center. Enjoy gathering and watching TV in the open-concept Living-Dining area that offers comfortably rustic furniture and a dining table for mealtimes, that are surrounded by the stylish wood-burning stove. Cook or prepare healthy snacks and picnics for your active days in the outdoors in the beautiful fully equipped Kitchen, showcasing modern stainless steel appliances. Watch sunrises with your morning coffee or celebrate the end of each day marveling at the sunsets on the large outdoor deck that offers a dining table and gas grill; walk down to the stone patio to sit by the firepit for stargazing and storytelling with cocktails. Retreat to slumber in either of the four inviting bedrooms - guests can choose from a Master Bedroom located up the spiral staircase on the second floor that features a King Bed; next to the Master Bedroom is a Loft space that features a Full Bed; while the two Guest Bedrooms are located on the main level and feature either a Full Bed, or Twin Bunk Beds configurations. The residence has two bathrooms, one located on the main floor and one on the second floor that features a walk-in stone shower. Should guests require a little more sleeping space, there is a Queen-sized pull-out sofa in the Living Room.

The property shares the fabulous acreage of the Lodge, as such guests have access to wetlands and ponds, riverfront walks and a swimming beach, along with a lovely pond and waterfall that makes for the perfect place to perch to sit for a while at the end of long active days. A fun fact is that The Moose Lodge has been the chosen location for filming commercials for very famous beer brands!

Cozy Home

We stayed at Owl Roost Luxe Yurt in early June. When we arrived the home was very clean. It has everything you need for a week in the woods. This property is is located at Moose Lodge and Cabins in the White Mountains. There are several homes on the property. We had a very large group so we booked two properties. Owl Roost and Moose Lodge. All of the kids in the group wanted to stay at Owl Roost. This home is perfect for a family to spend a week in the mountains. The only drawback is that the home does not have a washer & dryer, so if you stay here, you need to plan for that. It was not an issue for us since we had two homes, and the Moose Lodge has a washer and dryer. We had a great time here and our host Alex was fantastic. We did not have any issues, but if we did he was right there to take care of them. Great Stay in a beautiful setting. We would go back.”
