Description

Downtown Hudson Valley Retreat

Boasting a cheerful interior with vibrant colors, this sophisticated Hudson Valley retreat has eight elegantly appointed bedrooms—great for extended families. Situated on 4500 square feet only one block from Warren Street and a few blocks from the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains.

Built in 1834, this historic home has been tastefully renovated with quirky charm and modern amenities. It can accommodate 16 guests comfortably in eight private bedrooms (in addition to sofa beds), all separated into three distinct but connected units, each with its own gourmet kitchen and common spaces. The primary living room on the first floor invites you to relax on the sectional or slumber on the sofa bed while you enjoy the fireplace and smart TV. In the next room over, buttered yam paint fills the dining area walls—an orange hue known to stimulate appetite. Natural light shines through oversized windows onto the beautiful wood table where eight to twelve guests can enjoy a fantastic sit-down meal. The space continues into the kitchen, where a dazzling built-in teal hutch steals the show. Patterned floors and white cabinets surround the room, which comes equipped with a breakfast bar, six-burner gas stove, farmhouse sink, and butler's pantry. While you're here, lounge around in two enclosed side porches, one rear open porch, or in the quaint backyard.

The wood staircase leads upstairs towards the master bedroom, which offers a luxurious queen-sized bed set against a stylish accent wall and decor. A dressing area with a full-length mirror connects the master bedroom to the master bath, where black and white subway tiles enclose a walk-in shower opposite a double vanity. Nearby, the second bedroom is bright with a double bed and full bathroom. The second living room opens to a dining room and boasts energetic red walls, trendy decor, and a smart TV with streaming capabilities. The second kitchen combines modern and retro touches with a funky red Smeg refrigerator, vintage sink, open shelving, and a built-in hutch that can double as a coffee bar. A hallway connects the kitchen to three bedrooms, two with queen-sized beds and one with a double bed that shares a luminous full bathroom with a clawfoot tub/shower. Around the corner is a third living room with a cozy seating area and smart TV. The sitting room leads to a full bathroom and two additional bedrooms, each offering a queen bed. This floor also provides an incredible farmhouse-style gallery kitchen for added luxury and convenience. Back downstairs, an elegant living area with royal blue walls offers a futon-style sofa bed as well as a mini-fridge and small kitchen island so you can prepare a snack to enjoy while watching the room's smart TV. French doors connect this space to the final bedroom (and ensuite bathroom), allowing guests to wake up refreshed on a queen-sized bed and memory foam mattress.

Hudson Valley lies 120 miles north of the boroughs and is close to the Hudson River with hiking trails that boast red and orange foliage in the fall. Dubbed one of the top 20 must-see destinations in the world by National Geographic Traveler, come experience one of the oldest wine-producing areas in the country, beaming with natural beauty and history.

A gem!

We had a fantastic time staying in this very special home. The division of the house into three separate apartments connected by an interior hallway was perfect for our extended family. We had four young adults staying in one 3-bedroom apartment, a family with three little kids in another 3-bedroom, and my husband and me in the main unit which has 2 bedrooms. We could all have dinner together in the dining room of the main unit (with a bit of a squeeze), and also had space to spread out and do things in smaller groups. The location is A+, a short walk to Warren Street with all its great little shops and restaurants, and the house has been updated and furnished with great decorative flair. We loved the excellent selection of books on the bookshelves in the various units, and the fun art displayed throughout. Cooking facilities in the main unit are top-shelf, with very good appliances and complete cookware, utensils, and serving pieces. We didn't use the other two kitchens for much besides snacks, but each unit does have its own. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We would be more than happy to visit again.”
