Description

Durango Mountain Home

Ideally located just minutes from Purgatory Ski Resort and just a half-hour from the charming mountain town of Durango, Colorado, this new three-bedroom three-full bathroom residence has an impressive elevation of 8,700 feet. The exclusive, contemporary custom mountain home, which was designed by the owner who bought the land over 30 years ago, features floor-to-ceiling glass windows with exposures of the red rock cliffs of the Southwest as they collide with the magnificent Rocky Mountains.

Inside this truly one-of-a-kind 3500 square foot mountain home, you will find a convenient elevator that transports you between three levels of unmatched luxury and elegance. Towering ceilings with exposed beams that connect to a stone accent wall and fireplace in the great room are just a glimpse of the refined sophistication found throughout the home. High-end furnishings, stately artwork, and a show-stopping iron ring chandelier complete the space, which leads to a stylish dining room where the stone accent wall continues. Sparking floor-to-ceiling windows illuminate the room, promising dinner with a view for eight at the formal dining table. White shiplap walls span the kitchen, where sage green cabinets and wood shelving add a healthy dose of color, while top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and miles of counter space make cooking a breeze. Speaking of breeze, step out onto the deck overlooking the mountains for dinner alfresco with a view. Back inside, the living room offers an array of seating options and a cozy fireplace to warm up to. A guest room and full bath are privately located on the west end of the home, while another large guest room and full bath are located adjacent to the family room.

A grand staircase acts as a captivating centerpiece and carries you upstairs to the home’s primary bedroom, with a comfortable queen mattress to sleep on at night. The primary bedroom features vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows allowing you spectacular views to rise with the sun and mountains each morning. A supporting wall separates the bedroom in two with a built-in wardrobe on the opposite side—another impressive feature unique to this custom-built home. An upstairs office also offer breathtaking views and privacy. The three upscale bathrooms provide an at-home spa experience with walk-in showers.

There’s no better place to enjoy a crackling fire than among the Colorado mountains, so gather around the well-designed stone patio and firepit in the backyard. Colorado is home to hundreds of craft breweries, so crack open a pale ale (or your beer of choice) and enjoy!

Aside from fresh powder slopes, Durango offers over 2,500 preserved archeological sites, four nearby national monuments, 13 historic sites, two members of the UNESCO World Heritage List, and one national park. You might want to extend your stay to experience it all!

Ski vacation

Beautiful home. The elevator was nice to have for lugging big bags up to the different floors. Surround sound, beautiful kitchen, stunning views. Great location a few minutes from the slopes and the hot springs were a lovely surprise and a nice break from our daily ski runs. Highly recommend this fantastic oasis!”

Spectacular Custom Mountain Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful custom transitional modern mountain home. The home is well decorated and appointed with all the amenities. The views from the home are spectacular. It is a relaxing private oasis up a dirt road off the highway 20 minutes from Durango with spectacular views. The home comfortably sleeps 4 and has an elevator. The host Chris was very informative and helpful.”
