Designed by acclaimed California architect John Hans Ostwald, this two-bedroom home is classic California Modernism. Ostwald began his career working for world-renowned visionary architect Richard Neutra, regarded as the founder of California Modernism. The home has all the hallmarks of classic California living with its integration with the natural landscape, Redwood post and beam construction, striking intentional geometry, airy lofty open spaces, walls of glass, and decks that bring the indoors out and the outdoors in.

Enjoy this spacious 1700 square foot home in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The main level's 20'x20' great room has 12' tall ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. It has sofa seating, a 50" 4K LG Smart TV with Comcast cable TV and Comcast's highest speed internet, and a dining room table. Relax in the glass-enclosed sunroom off the great room with its treetop views. The kitchen contains a full fridge, oven with a 4-burner gas stovetop, dishwasher, sink, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster. It's equipped with dishware, glassware, kitchen utensils, and basic cookware. There's a full bathroom with a bathtub located off the entry hall. The loft bedroom is accessed by the stairs off the great room and has a king-size bed, guest closet with hangers, dresser, wall mirror, and a small powder room off the bedroom. The loft bedroom has a half-wall that opens to the great room below. This top level is connected to the lower level via an interior stairway.

The lower level has a bedroom with a king-size bed, glass sliding doors to a deck, and a guest closet with hangers. An ensuite bath is located off the bedroom. The lower level also has a large family room with a wood-burning fireplace, dining area, and two sets of sliding glass doors leading to two separate decks. Enjoy its sofa seating, a Smart TV with Comcast/Xfinity Cable TV, and a small dining table that can also be used as a workspace. A full service kitchenette off the family room that contains a refrigerator, two-burner gas stovetop, microwave convection oven, coffee maker and toaster. It's equipped with dishware, glassware, kitchen utensils, and basic cookware.

The space is ideally used by four guests as the upper level's lofted bedroom has an open half-wall overlooking the great room, and the lower level bathroom is accessed through the lower level bedroom. However, we allow up to 6 guests.

There are two wood-burning fireplaces (one on each level) for guest use. Guests provide their own wood. Wood and/or Duraflame logs are sold in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea at Bruno's Market and Nielsen's Market. Please be certain to fully extinguish any fire in the fireplace before leaving the unit at any time and before checking out.

Onsite assigned uncovered parking for two cars maximum. Only one sedan or small SUV/pickup truck is allowed on the wooden driveway ramp at any time. A second space is on the asphalt space at the top of the wooden driveway ramp and to the left. Any larger vehicle can park streetside on the next intersecting street.

Carmel has no street lights, so you may want to bring a small flashlight for walking around at night. Bring comfortable walking shoes as Carmel has hills and hilly areas throughout town.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
Houses and businesses located within Carmel-by-the-Sea's actual boundaries cannot be mapped on any GPS system because of Carmel's unique address system. Once you book your visit with us, we will send you our address and directions to our home that will include our neighbor's address across the street that will be able to map on GPS so that you can use that to find your way.
