Villa Carmelina | Southwest coast of Italy

Description

Villa Carmelina

This rustic-style Italian villa is situated in "Cersuta", a small fraction of the nearest and most charming village of "Maratea", on the southwest coast of Italy, just a few our from Naples direction south.

The lovely medieval borgo of Maratea is very little advertised but is worth a visit. It is the only city of the Basilicata region on the West Tyrrhenian coast, located in the Gulf of Policastro, along the scenic road that connects two beautiful south Italian areas like "Campania" and "Calabria". It makes an ideal one-day or half-day excursion when staying on either side of the Lucanian Tyrrhenian coast.

Basilicata's coastline on the Tyrrhenian sea is tiny but exquisite, with mountains and rocks sweeping down to the sea, revealing enchanting little beaches below (most of which are only accessible by sea).

Before arriving in Maratea, the scenic road connecting the different villages alternates between dense tracks with colourfully lush gardens, fine groves, and open spaces where you can park your car and look down the coast to discover the beautiful little bays deep down.

The origins of the small village of Maratea are very ancient. The first written record mentioning the name 'Maratea' dates back to 1079. Still, the area was already inhabited in prehistoric times, as attested by archaeological findings in the surrounding areas.

Villa Carmelina is surrounded by greenery with beautiful views of the Gulf of Policastro. Ten beds, four independent bedrooms, each with a bathroom and direct access to the olive garden from the French door. Garage, double living room, garden with hammock and double patio.
This villa's rustic and well-decorated spaces create the typical Italian atmosphere, perfect for enjoying with family or friends.
