Description

Vale do Manantio (R)

This fantastic 14 bedrooms 19th-century resort-style property is in the wild area near Moura. Visitors can see many exciting features in this bright and cheerful Alentejo town close to the River Guadiana. This is a region of undulating hills, planted with extensive olive groves and producing some excellent wines.

The region of Alentejo presents plains separated by mountain ranges, a coast with idyllic beaches and cities and villages where time seems to have stopped. This region also has the biggest European artificial lake: Alqueva dam, with a losing sight immensity of water. The Great Lake, as it is also known, sets the border with Vale do Manantio, making up a coast that extends for about 6kms.

Lying across 1000 hectares of undulated ground, the Estate is a constantly evolving landscape. From wheat fields to olive groves, and river-crossed pastures to the banks of the Alqueva Dam, Vale do Manantio pays authentic tribute to Alentejo’s deepness.

The gastronomy of the region is very rich. It is recommended to try the caldo de bacalhau (cod broth), ensopado de borrego (lamb stew), migas (a dish made with leftover bread), sausages, and for dessert, the bolo podre (cake made with walnuts and Port wine), the nogado (fried sweets wrapped in a honey syrup) and borrachos (kind of doughnuts made with brandy and white wine).

This 1000-hectare property offers a covered porch with Alentejo landscape views, a private hunting area, and rooms furnished with antiques. A spa area allows guests to relax after a long day of activities. The rooms are furnished and tastefully decorated, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a modern and minimalist style that fits perfectly with the luminosity and harmony of this property. All rooms have private balconies, and some of them have a lovely fireplace on it. All the accommodations take inspiration from the mount’s details, with an endless pool over the Alqueva Lake and a breathtaking Alentejo view.

Living spaces are ample and bright, with large windows allowing plenty of natural light. A decor blend of modern and classical styles and wooden elements creates an elegant and fashionable atmosphere surrounding the property.

The outdoor areas are a must in Vale Do Manantio, and guests will enjoy their private swimming pool and hot tub and a fantastic relaxing area with sunbeds just on the pool borders.

Indulge in a range of captivating activities at Vale do Manantio Resort, available for separate booking and payment. Enjoy a hot air balloon ride, arrive in style with a helicopter transfer from Lisbon, explore the countryside on horseback, embark on a serene boat trip, partake in exhilarating water sports, test your aim with clay pigeon shooting, and unwind with rejuvenating massages. These activities ensure an unforgettable Alentejo experience tailored to your preferences.
