March 2025A pleasant stay on St. Simons Island
Nancy and I, along with two other couples, had an enjoyable stay at the “Stunning Seaside Retreat”. The house is spacious and very nicely decorated. The owners, when contacted, were courteous and helpful, but some of the “nuts and bolts” dealings took place between us and the management company that handles the building’s rental issues. Upon arrival all of the parking spaces that were supposed to be reserved for our home were taken. All of their literature claimed that parking permits would be left inside the unit but there were none to be found. The company rectified the parking issue the following day. The building had been freshly painted inside and out, and there was a strong paint odor that pervaded all areas of the living space. The window cranks were missing which we surmised was done in anticipation of the painting operation; however, when we inquired about opening the windows to air out the house, we were told that the cranks had been intentionally removed, likely to eliminate insects and moisture from entering. Fresh air could be found by sitting on the deck off the living room and on the roof deck which provided a lovely, panoramic view of the ocean. That said, it would have been helpful to have access to fresh outside air inside the house, given that the paint smell was pretty overpowering. The house was nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The house is located on the front row of a development overlooking the community pool. During our visit the temperatures were cool and the pool area was quiet. However, during warmer months I would assume the pool could be quite busy. The house was convenient to all the shopping and dining offerings of St. Simons. Everyone in our party enjoyed our stay, and we would recommend the vacation home to anyone interested in a seaside escape to a lovely area. ”
