Fernhill Castle

Fernhill Castle is one of Yorkshire’s most distinguished and historically significant residences. Dating back to the 14th century, this Grade I listed fortified mansion is situated on a 15-acre estate on the outskirts of Skipton, often referred to as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Built by Edward De Fernhill, the castle was strategically constructed to protect the nearby Bolton Abbey from marauders who, after their defeat at the Battle of Bannockburn, had journeyed from Scotland in search of sustenance.

Main House:

Bedrooms: The castle features eight elegantly appointed bedrooms spread across two floors.

First Floor:

Master Suite: A luxurious super king bedroom with an additional Simon Horn double pull-out bed, accommodating two more singles. It includes an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath, basin, and WC.

Second Super King Suite: This suite also features a Simon Horn double pull-out bed with two additional singles, accompanied by an en-suite bath, basin, and WC.

Additional Super King Rooms: Two super king bedrooms with single sofa beds available upon request, each with an en-suite shower room, bath, and WC.
Triple Room: A room with three single beds and a shared house bathroom equipped with a freestanding bath, basin, and WC.

King Room: Featuring a separate wet room.

Second Floor:

King Room with Freestanding Bath: A king-size room with an elegant freestanding bath and a separate turret WC and basin.

Additional King Room: This room shares a house bathroom with a freestanding bath and WC on the first floor.
Ground Floor:

Reception Areas: The building includes a sitting room, drawing room, snug, and large hall, all designed for comfort and ample seating.
Kitchen: It is equipped with an AGA, separate oven, hob, freestanding fridge and freezer, dishwasher, and washer-dryer.

Dining Room: A grand space with seating for over 20 guests, complemented by a separate boot room.

Additional Amenities: Four open fires with a starter pack of wood and fuel, WIFI, five smart TVs, a Bose portable sound system, a selection of books, traditional games for adults, and high-quality toys for younger children.
Games Room: Features a pool table.

Coach House:

This detached annexe offers additional accommodation and facilities:

Ground Floor: Includes a cinema room and dining room, with a WC.
Mezzanine Level: Contains one king-size room, one room with two double beds, and a bathroom.
Outdoor Features: A large hot tub, fire pit, outdoor chess set, croquet, and various other outdoor games.
Parking and Charging: Electric vehicle charging is available on a pay-as-you-go basis, and ample off-road parking is secured behind electric gates and CCTV.

Fernhill Castle boasts extensive, beautifully landscaped outdoor areas that enhance its historic charm. The grounds encompass over 15 acres, featuring large lawned areas, formal and wildlife ponds, and a walled kitchen garden. Guests can enjoy the serene orchard and explore the lush surroundings adjoining the canal.
