June 2020Magic!
We have been to Newport Beach several times but have never stayed directly on the water. The location blew us away. From the patio we were able to see fish and sting rays (small round mottled rays)...we even had a family of ducks with 4 tiny ducklings come for a visit. We loved our time on the paddle boards and kayaks and loved access to the bikes as well. Perfect access to the grocery store, restaurants and the beach with the bikes. So much within walking distance too! Garage parking was a huge bonus!! As stated in previous reviews, this property consists of 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths in the main house and a separate 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment above the garage. That worked perfectly for our family as the older teenagers enjoyed having their own space. We spent hours each evening on the back patio playing games. In regards to some of the lower reviews, my guess is the house has been updated since then as we found ample overhead lighting on the main floor and plenty of lamps in the bedrooms. The kitchen and bathrooms all looked like they had been recently updated as well. Some complained that the bathroom situation is less than ideal...we had seven in our party and never had a complaint. There is a very large half bathroom on the main floor so sharing the shower in the main house was never a problem. The owner communicated well, gave several fantastic suggestions and the house was clean and well stocked. One thing to consider if you have someone with mobility issues is that both showers (the main house and the one in the apartment above the garage) are up a flight of stairs. The stairs in the main house are quite steep, but the railing appears to be new and very sturdy. We can not wait to return to this house on the water!”

October 2017GREAT WEEK
Was pleasantly surprised with the home...........great location...a short walk to beach...grocery store and many eating places...Having use of paddle boards..kayaks..and a canal of water right out front our patio ..was a big plus!!!! also having a separate apartment above garage allowed privacy for the 2 younger adults to ..have their own space....So ..WE LOVED OUR STAY AT THIS HOME......................... ”

April 2017Disappointing house but in a great location
I'm a bit conflicted with this review. We really enjoyed our week and took advantage of the bikes and paddle boards provided by the owner. The location allowed an easy walk to beach and pier as well as restaurants and shops. That said, we also found the house itself very challenging and ultimately not worth the key values being requested by 3rd home and the owner. The house is a 1930's beach house so don't expect luxury. The main house has 3 small bedrooms, all upstairs. One of the rooms has a tiny bath attached to it with a shower and small pedestal sink. The other 2 bedrooms don't have access to a bathroom so the master suite is shared by all parties staying in the main house. This was especially painful when we came in from the beach and attempted a quick turnaround to head out to dinner. We were rotating showers and all of us using the master suite to get ready. And that bathroom is tiny. With bifold shutter doors that don't fully close. Pretty challenging living situation. The house comes with a kitchen table that seats 4 only. Part of the downstairs living area has overhead lighting. The rest is very dark in the evenings and there aren't standing lamps. In addition, there is no wifi and no cable TV or satellite. I felt that the house would be a better value as a 1 key property. Maybe 2 base keys considering the location. But I feel that in it's current condition and offerings it's highly over valued as a 3 base key property and not somewhere I'd stay again.”
