Te Kahu House is a spectacular architecturally designed home nestled into its environment at perfect peace with its surroundings of tussock and natural bush. The home’s timber cedar cladding not only on the walls but the roof also blends beautifully with the outstanding natural landscape upon which it sits.

The interior is a beautifully put together mix of cedar, cast concrete and schist with oak wooden floors throughout the dining area and kitchen.

The kitchen itself is state of the art and fully equipped. Works well fully serviced or easy for self-catering.

Under floor heating throughout the house makes for a very cosy winter stay.

Wanaka is a popular destination for skiing in the winter and hiking, golf fishing and boating in the summer. It is a very private and sublime residence sitting on the edge of an embankment overlooking the lake which accessible by a cut pathways and steps. The site has a helipad, and clay bird shooting. Trout can be seen cruising the shore below the house. A power boat and 4 WD vehicle is available on negotiation.

Wanaka township is a quaint town with excellent dining, a popular golf course, and other amenities. It is 1 hour from Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand and has its own domestic airport. Wanaka is located in the wine region of Central Otago where some of the worlds best Pinot Noirs are produced. Otago has a rich history of gold mining, pioneering and high country farming. The area was settled in the early 1800s by Scottish immigrants. The local Maori lived and hunted in the area for generations. Scenic flights from Wanaka go daily through Mt Aspiring National Park to majestic Milford Sound, one of the striking Fiords in Fiordland National Park. Amazing Home and location

This home on Lake Wanaka is spectacular. The home is amazing and the views of the lake and mountains are breathtaking! I'm not sure there is a prettier place anywhere than Lake Wanaka in NZ. ”

A view that will leave you speechless!

Let me start by saying that I have traveled the world and seen lots of amazing places, however, I can honestly say that I have never awaken to a more spectacular view than here. We woke up, opened the curtains and sliding doors to see what I can say is the most incredible view anywhere. This home sits on 50 private acres and has a view of lake Wanaka with the mountains in the background. Now for more...from here we hiked to the top of Rob Roy Glacier, visited the vineyards of Bannockburn, shopped in Queenstown, and met people in Wanaka that will be life long friends. Recommend a fly over to Milford Sound. Also recommend visiting Lake Hawea. The town of Wanaka is perfect, small but with great dining and shops. People are very friendly and go out of their way to help. The owner/host is most helpful in making sure we understood how everything worked in the home and where to go. We will return to Wanaka and its beautiful and friendly people very soon. ”

Fantastic location and home

If you stay at this lovely, modern house, you are in for a treat ! The house itself is spacious, well furnished, modern. The kitchen is well equipped. The very best part though, is the wonderful location of the house. The views all around it, as well as from the interior rooms, are spectacular. Traveling all over the country, this house has the most amazing views of any we had seen. The large property goes right to the lake and you are not aware of any neighbors. There is peace and quiet and fantastic views everywhere. You can take hikes right from the house or drive to nearby trails. It takes about 25 minutes to drive into Wanaka, the nearest town where you will find shops and supermarkets. At the end of your stay you are either asked to wash your towels and linens, or you can can make arrangements with the caretaker to do it for you for a charge. ”
