Description

Historic District Home in Santa Fe

This two bedroom, two bathroom home is located at the heart of the east side historic district, one block from the Historic Canyon Road Art Galleries renowned restaurants, four blocks from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, and across the street from Downtown Subscription, the locals hangout for coffee, conversation, and news stands.

The home is a classic adobe, for immersion in the essence of Santa Fe, yet it is classic. Some walls are over two feet thick; all walls are diamond plaster, wood floors with radiant heating, wood ceilings with exposed vigas throughout, complete recent modernization, featuring all new plumbing, all new electrical, and all new heating and cooling, rare for a 100 plus year old home. The kitchen features a wolf range, sub-zero refrigerator, honed granite counter tops, and eat in kitchen.

The living room features a wood burning fireplace, a built in entertainment center, with Sonos sound system for a rich music experience. For the workaholic, a separate office with abundant work space doubles as a second bedroom and has a deluxe zoom room bed. While the second bathroom is not attached, but it does have a shower.

The home has a master suite with a dressing room, en suite bathroom, gas fireplace, and separate Sonos music zone, DVD player and flat screen tv. While the home can be described as urban, the master bedroom in the rear of the home is very quiet, because of the multiple thick adobe walls between the street and the bedroom.

There are two outdoor patios; in the summer, the patios are extensions of the home, as the mild weather permits the double doors to be open and the indoors and outdoors flow together for entertaining 20-30 people. A walled patio features a water feature, outdoor dining table and umbrella, sofa and chairs.

An outstanding feature of this home is the natural light, an abundance of windows and skylights make this a cheerful space, every room full of natural light. The finishes are all first class: custom doors, fixtures, hardware, no detail was overlooked.

Numerous gourmet restaurants, local pubs, the Dragon Room and Pink Adobe restaurants are three blocks away. A high end specialty grocery store, Kaune's, is two blocks away. Many art galleries, museums, historic churches, festivals, and one of a kind annual events have made Santa Fe a destination not to be missed.

The Acequia Madre, the "Mother Ditch" was the principal means of irrigation for early settlers of Santa Fe. This historic irrigation ditch flows along this narrow historic street, and gives the street it's name. The historic ditch actually runs through the rear of this property. While the streets are narrow and parking is often impossible in the historic district, one of the unique features of this property is abundant parking. There are seven casitas in the compound (this home is the largest), all second homes, that share 14 parking places. It is rare that two or more owners are present at any given time, so the parking is usually abundant.

Enjoy this Santa Fe Oasis!

Claudio and Rosemary made a wonderful welcome book that explained how to work everything the home and many ideas to live like a local in Santa Fe ! This was our second trip to Santa Fe , the first we stayed in a very nice hotel and I must say this trip staying in Thirdhome was so much more enjoyable ! A Very Special Place!

This charming home was more than we expected in every way. Perfectly updated and decorated with top of the line mattresses, fully equipped kitchen. The location was great to walk anywhere downtown. Don't miss the unique coffee shop across the street! The owners were perfect hosts. We will return!”
