September 2022St Tropez Mirth
I stayed in St Tropez at Beau Site with my sister and daughter for a glorious week in September blessed with warm summer weather. The property is as exactly as the photos show and is very spacious, comfortable, great beds and bedding, nice decor and well equipped kitchen with a huge outdoor table on the terrace. If you are looking for a holiday that is all about the property and not the destination then you should consider a property with grounds and a pool as this is more of a flat. The property is located about a mile uphill from the village so we did not walk much but were able to take Uber's when we didn't want to drive. Parking in the village was fairly easy while we were there because it was off season. Parking at the property was on the street and can be quite busy at times. The property is between the nice beaches on the East side and the village and easy to get to surrounding villages and to Ramatuelle. Silvianne is an exceptionally kind host. She graciously met us at the flat quite late in the evening despite my miscalculated ever changing time of arrival. She asked us how much interaction we wanted with her and was very responsive to questions. I personally love to meet people and interact with people that know everything about a destination and Silvianne has been in St Tropez for 40 years and had incredible recommendations for restaurants, beaches, wineries and sunset cocktail locations. Since we were on a girls trip it was most enjoyable to have her join us for a few dinners and get to know one another and we never would have gotten in Le Quai on our last evening if she had not been with us. Thank you Silvianne for showing us St Tropez! ”

September 2017Great Host, Great Trip, OK Home
When we first arrived, we were a little worried about our choice, of home, given it was right above a bike shop, with no discernible clue it was actually there. But when we were greeted by Sylvanie and shown around on the inside of the house, while she served us some lovely Rose wine, we felt much more comfortable. Having lived in France before, the outside being non-descript is not unusual, but might put off some people. And to be honest, if we had another couple join us as guests, it might have been disappointing. For us on our own, it turned out just great. We wanted to see St. Tropez as the locals see it, and Sylvanie helped us do just that. Sylvanie had some time, and took it upon herself to show us the old village, where we had been before, but she took us to some great places we had never seen. And she took us to some of the 'very cool' beaches the next day, which was something we would likely never have found on our own. The location of her house is great if you are driving, being close to the beaches and old town, and just ok if you are walking, as it is a bit of a hike into town or the beaches (30-45 minutes), but we did it each day. The space inside the house is fine for a couple, or maybe a couple with one or two children. And we found it decorated nicely, although maybe not to the same standard as some of the amazing 3rd Homes we have stayed in. But we were always reminding ourselves, we are in St. Tropez, and some of the 'amazing homes' along the water or near the village were just not options when we wanted to travel. Bottom line - it worked well for us, wanting to spend some quality time in St. Tropez. And Sylvanie was fantastic!”

June 2017Not a usual #3Home experience
While we had an enjoyable time in St Tropez, and the host Sylvanie was a helpful and excellent tour guide and wonderful source of information on what was “hot locally”, the apartment was very disappointing. Rather than being, as described, “a large townhouse with views over the countryside” it is in reality a small flat, extended into the roof space, above a moke/bike rental shop on a main road some 2 km outside the old town. The only view available is directly over a neglected gulley and we were advised not to (virtually forbidden) to open any of the windows on the roadside due to the dust and noise. The (small) kitchen was not well appointed or designed, there is no access to any garden, the BBQ area had no barbecue or other means of cooking, there are no sun beds or comfortable sun loungers on the tiny patio and the TV was difficult (impossible?) to operate. We were greeted upon arrival with a long list of things we must not do including putting glasses down on the kitchen surfaces as it may scratch them, turning lights off, absolutely no shoes inside, and closing the pantry doors slowly! None of this made us feel very welcome. Only one of the sinks in the master bathroom could be used (the other had a paper sign saying it was cracked and leaked) and the master bedroom lights were intermittently faulty. We were told, in passing, that the gas in the cooker was low but given no idea of how to replace it when it ran out - which it did (very frustratingly) at 11.30pm the first night mid cooking our meal. we did not then have any means of cooking, other than the microwave, until 48 hours later. The sliding door broke (the owner admitted not for the first time) on the second day despite deliberate care. We would like to thank Sylvanie for her efforts but would not return to this apartment again. ”
