great location in central iceland

We had a really nice stay. Stunning surroundings and scenery around the house. House is most appropriate for 6 families or couples, as there are three toilets in the main house. The geothermal hot tub is awesome and big, great views. The recreation stables is also a lot of fun, with more refrigerators, toilets and laundry. Long gravel road to get to house.. Some plumbing issues with the lower floor bathroom. The host was always available and a great help in settling in and answering any questions.”

A magnificent trip to Southern Iceland!

If you are looking to extend the reach of your stay in Iceland beyond Reykjavik, this comfortable and well-appointed home on the Golden Circle route is a wonderful choice. We had a group of 16 friends and family enjoy a stay here. Not only is the home situated close to several of the top attractions making daytrips easy, but it is far away from the city lights and we were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the Northern lights from the house. Bjarni was very helpful and communicated regularly during our stay whenever we had questions and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The quiet spaces with views of mountains and the outdoors allowed all of us to relax and recharge. The game room in the barn was a good option for those looking to have some fun. Being in such a peaceful place allowed everyone to discharge and forget about the state of things, even if only for the week. Iceland is such an amazing country and being our second trip here, I know that we will be back again. I recommend a 4×4 for traveling outside of the cities, including to Kjarnholt, as the weather is unpredictable and the road conditions change constantly. We had one in our group who wasn't able to rent a 4x4 and that presented some challenges with certain areas, though it all worked out. Expect to do a fair amount of driving if you want to get out and explore, or plan to just enjoy the week at the farmhouse and take advantage of the stunning scenery, catching up on your favorite reads, and soaking in the hot tub. Either way, you will be happy you chose this home for your visit! ”

Incredible Location!

My family of four stayed at Kjarholt and appreciated the incredible location. The property is within the Golden Circle and most major sights are within a 20/30 minute drive. We took advantage of the area and spent all of our days exploring. Each evening we made it back to soak in the jacuzzi. Thanks to the hosts for an amazing family experience. ”
