Spacious and Tranquil

The Roundstone House offers lots of room, natural light and a tranquil view of the water from the front. Our hostess was welcoming and easy to reach and the village picturesque. If one stays for the full week, bring your hiking shoes for walks on lovely rural loops; all other activities/sites will be a bit of a drive. [the nearest grocery store is in Clifden - 25 minutes away] but there are 3 pubs in the village. The property is, as noted, within walking distance but be aware that, as it is in much of Ireland and England, the roads are very narrow, often with stone walls and without shoulders; there are sidewalks when you reach the village. We very much enjoyed our day trips to the Aran Islands, Kellymore Abby, Connemara Nat'l Park, Glifden Castle and kayaking. The house was comfortable but more akin to Airbnb properties [where this property is listed] than the thirdhome properties where we have stayed, esp. re: some mattresses and bathrooms, but, as we were a group of 7, we appreciated the layout with its open kitchen/sunroom/entry space, separate living room and separate areas for the bedrooms Our family has a reunion annually, often booking a thirdhome and this year we enjoyed exploring our Irish heritage. This June was a wonderful time to go - sunny!! most days and fewer crowds than peak season. ”
