October 2022Amazing ocean views and private swimming pool
We love Montecristo at Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach. Very nice three bedroom unit with amazing ocean views. Only negative is beds are a bit hard and need to be replaced soon. Plus be nice to have feather pillows and more towels in the unit. But, overall still a 5 star resort. Only a $15 taxi ride to downtown Cabo which is 15 minutes from the resort. ”

It was a little tight taking a shuttle every time you wanted to go to another pool, or any of the restaurants. The house itself was amazing. ”

November 2021Wonderful Stay!
We had a great time at MonteCristo Estates! The Villa was spacious and well appointed with an incredible view of the ocean and surrounding mountains. The infinity pool was a great spot to watch the beautiful sunsets and there was a hot tub as well. Easy access to all the amenities of the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach through the shuttle system gave us options for other pools and restaurants as well. The owner provided helpful tips for airport transportation, local Cabo restaurants, and other popular Cabo activities. All in all it was a great time for everyone at MonteCristo!”

May 2021The ocean waves crashing sounds like thunder without the rain.
Usually we feel like a celebrity at Montecristo but this trip had a few unpleasant kinks. At check in my wife waited for the people in front of her to get checked in for more than 15 minutes and the front desk person let my wife stand there for more than 10 minutes waiting while he was on the computer not once acknowledging her. A co worker also finished a check in and also ignored my wife and started working on her computer for an extended period of time without attempting to help my wife. When she finally said something she received a curt response with no acknowledgement of the half hour my wife spent standing there in plain view waiting. When we arrived at our villa the pool was so cold the kids wouldn't even swim in it and the hot tub was not hot. Our concierge got busy getting both of those issues addressed and the next day we were able to use the hot tub and pool comfortably. Having got over those hiccups the rest of our stay was lovely and the staff we interacted with for the rest of the stay were the go out of their way, kind and nice people we are accustomed to from previous visits. The views from the villas are amazing and the rooms are lovely and comfortable. ”

May 2021Cano trip
The dates of our reservation was not correct but the resort changes it with no issues. The resort is great since they have several locations and provide transportation to all of them. The tough part was waiting for the transport to go anywhere. Great views from the villa and great heated pool right in the villa, but hassle to go anywhere since had to call for a shuttle and sometimes it took a while. The Decore and furniture was dated but they said it was going to be updated. Food and amenities were great. Not too far from town only a $15 cab ride to town. ”

We really enjoyed our time in Cabo. The unit we stayed in was fantastic. The split level was great for entertaining with the pool on one floor and jacuzzi on the other. Would defiantly come back. ”

December 2017Wow!
An amazing property! Located on beautiful spot overlooking the Pacific. We sometimes could see whales spouting in the distance from our infinity pool. Perfect combination of luxury and space in the villa and access to all of the sister properties if you want different pools or restaurants. 10 -15 minute drive to downtown Cabo. Security was outstanding for access to the property, so we always felt safe. Staff was outstanding. Concierge even arranged beach chairs for us at one of the other more crowded resorts. ”

August 2018Montecristo Estates
very nice private 3 bedroom villa with pool and Jacuzzi. The kitchen is very well equipped with all cooking utensil needs. BBQ gas grill included also. Washer dryer was very handy. Unit could use some updating. I think they may be in the process of starting renovations on some units. All resort facilities are available for use. Good solid ac. Internet worked well and is free. Very responsive owner.”

March 2018Loved the Newer Villas
For this trip, we stayed in two adjacent villas, which were both in the newer Phase II lower section of Montecristo... but still with spectacular views, amazing private pools, and in better condition than units we've stayed in before, in Phase I which are located further up the cliff. The resort is quit spread out with considerable hills, so a car is advantageous, however there is shuttle service. We found the market convenient for varied casual dinning choices, but prefer off site dinning for more upscale options. Over all excellent stay but avoid the "all inclusive" and the sales pitch for resort credit!”

May 2018Incredible View and Stay
We never tired of the breathtaking view from the infinity pool and the upper balcony! Our housekeeper and Eddie made sure all of our needs were attended to. The shuttle service was great (and needed w/the hills!). We shared this vacation with family and there was plenty of room for us to all relax and have our own beautiful space.”

December 2016Five Stars for the Villa and Resort but
we had a very unpleasant experience with a sales manager. When we arrived at the resort check in was a bit confusing and we were encouraged to attend a tour of the resort for which we would receive resort activity credit. Instead of an win/win opportunity for us and the resort we found ourselves waiting for 30 minutes in a congested line/mass of people which was eventually herded into a large room for a presentation. Finally, we were given an informative, small group tour of the property led a a nice young man. However, after our return to the main building, an older sales manager came over and, having discovered we didn't instantly buy in berated the young man as a "failure" and then directed his attack at us. The incident was most unfortunate because the villa itself is beautiful!!! very spacious, well outfitted with an absolutely gorgeous view as well as a well tended private pool. The resort has several additional pools and dining venues. The main buildings are quite spread out but we were happy to walk; shuttle vans are also available. The concierge helped us book some events including deep sea fishing where we saw a most amazing humpback display, horseback riding on the beach, and suggestions for in town shopping and dining. We did enjoy our stay at this wonderful property but, unless their sales technique has improved, we would strongly suggest you avoid the pitch/tour. ”

March 2018Amazing views from private infinity pool and private rooftop jacuzzi
Loved this house with spectacular views and infinity pool. Daily maid service was very good as was a Butler assigned to the house. I would love to come back and stay here again. There is also a very nice community pool in the same complex that you can go to that has waiters that give excellent service. The Owners at this property were responsive and everything was perfect upon arrival. ”

November 2017Disappointing 3rd stay...
We've really enjoyed this property in the past. The views remain spectacular and the sunsets are unbeatable from the infinity pool! Some members have commented on the somewhat chaotic check in process which seems unavoidable at this resort. This 3rd home exchange was based on a points exchange allocation through the owner, so the villas are variable based on availability... unfortunately, we had significant issues with ours, in which we had just stayed earlier in February without problems. The staff of course is always very accommodating and immediately tried to address all of our concerns which for the most part they did (as an example the non functioning stove was literally carried out and replaced with a unit half the size... no home cooked turkey this Thanksgiving). Other members have mentioned the lack of kitchen supplies and coking utensils which seem to be dwindling and not replaced, in case you plan to actually use the kitchen. Our jacuzzi had ongoing heating issues and really showed its age. Not to mention some structural cracks needing repair in the outside walls of the building and many loose tiles in the pool. Currently, there is also significant ongoing repair work on property as they jackhammer and re-gunite all of the retaining walls shoring up the villas, which had taken a real hit during the recent hurricane from flooding rains. In general the property seems to have maintenance issues, which are only being addressed as occupants raise concerns... friends of ours who are owners and were staying at the same time also reported issues with their villa so this is not an isolated case. There is also discounted renting of unused villas going on, as their occupancy levels seemed pretty low while we were there. Overall the phase I villas (higher up on the mountain) need updating and are showing their age. The phase II units (lower on the mountain) may be a better value if you can settle for a slightly less spectacular view. If you don't rent a car (at airport or available on site) then prepare for significant walking (not recommended) or waiting on shuttles as the property (3 resorts) is immense and the hills are significantly steep. There is an optional "all inclusive" meal plan so the restaurants on site are ok... but not spectacular (see TripAdvisor). Also be aware that gratuities in form of a "Service Change" are included with all meals. ”

We stayed in villa 114 and enjoyed this beautiful home and perfect oceanview. May was a nice time to stay because the property was not too busy. Our housekeeper was Lillia and she was fantastic! We always enjoy all the wonderful, caring and hardworking employees. ”

May 2017Montecristo Estates
The villas are great as are the other facilities in the complex. The one problem is that everywhere you go requires a shuttle unless your villa is next to the clubhouse- restaurant-spa building. Walking up and down the roads is not an option unless you are in great shape. The wind blows a lot because the complex is on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo. Getting to and from town is no problem and takes about 15 minutes in a taxi for $14.00. The Quivira golf course does not live up to its hype. Lots of blind shots and one hole that should have a clown face in the middle of the fairway. The wind blows constantly and was always between 20 and 40 miles an hour when we played. One group stopped playing because the wind was so high. If you like wind, you will love this place.”

March 2017Montecristo Estates
Beautiful gated community with comfortable villas and an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoyed the infinity pool and jacuzzi hot tub at the villa as well as comfortable beds and outdoor space. Many food choices on site or short ride on the shuttle or car ride into downtown Cabo for shopping, meals or activities. Breakfast at Cibola Restaurant on site and many choices at nearby Sunset Beach Resort or Quivira. Great place to get to the sunshine and can't say enough about the caring and hard-working staff.”

Very nice house, we had some small issues upon arrival however, our concierge person made everything perfect for us. The Spa at Sunset Beach was one of the best Spa experiences ive had, I would highly recommend ”

March 2017Montecristo Estates
The location just north of Cabo is ideal, easy access to the marina but quiet and removed. The villas all have distant ocean views that are awesome. This is a huge resort with thousands of units but a good transportation system and lots to do with numerous pools and restaurants. The villa itself is lovely and generally well appointed although there are maintenance issues. Six is the perfect number of guests although you could squeeze in 8 if 4 of them were children who shared the one room with two beds. We loved whale watching from the deck, a great activity December thru March. We would definitely come back. ”

March 2017Living the dream
We enjoyed an excellent stay in a 3 bedroom Montecristo Villa high up the mountain... with beyond spectacular view! The large infinity plunge pool was perfect for cooling off and the private upper and lower verandas were perfect for bronzing our tan! The master suite is on the main upper level with jacuzzi outside. Two additional bedrooms downstairs on pool level with additional living area. The kitchen has everything you might need. You have access to all Pueblo Bonito resorts including the two by the marina downtown, as well as kids club, and Quivera Golf course with an absolute must steak house. There is also an excellent onsite restaurant and bar at Montescristo Estates. A car is beneficial although shuttles can take you anywhere on site on demand. Cabo is a quick 10 min drive. We will absolutely be back!”

The condo was very nice and housekeeping was excellent. It had a beautiful view and very nice space distribution. Our concierge was very helpful. We were disappointed in the overall resort as it was quite crowded and the check in very chaotic. ”

October 2016Tour de Cabo
Spent a week at Montecristo with friends on a fishing/golf trip in 2 villas. Villas were superb, beds super comfy, high end finished & the best view in Cabo from the private infinity pool. Pics are 100% accurate. Its high on the steep hillside to get the views - frequent shuttles to town, clubhouse and lower resort meant a bit of variety and fun. We rented a car for day trips and stopped at Costco from the airport to load up for the week. Landed 2 marlin with redrum fishing! Highly recommend this secure, high end resort to get your cabo fix! Personal concierge was included.”

July 2016Relaxing Getaway
Open the front door to an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean! We used the balcony pool every afternoon, following the day at the beach. Daily maid service provided us with a clean Villa & fresh sheets every night. They have a sister property right on the Sea of Cortes, with an amazing view of the rocks, they provide a complimentary shuttle, but we rented a car. This came in handy as the stores were at least a 15 minute drive away. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is it is not really a 3RD Home, it is a property for sale by the resort. It says Chef's kitchen, but there was no knife block, no spices, condiments, paper products, measuring cups, there was not even a pantry to put the food in. Nothing like any 3rd Home I have ever stayed in. Fortunately there was a Walmart close by where we could purchase all we needed. I only wish I had known that before arriving...”
