September 2023Wonderful time!
We had a wonderful time at the chateau! We planned a family trip and the chateau was perfect for it. We really enjoyed our stay, it is such a beautiful property with so much character. We had a wine and cheese tasting at the cellar and it was an amazing experience. Remi, the property manager, was very accommodating and helped us have an even better time providing recommendations and facilitating requests - thank you so much! We did day trips to the surrounding cities to get to know the area and some in the group even went cycling close-by. We highly recommend it and hope to be back one day! ”

July 2022A Magical and Magnificent, Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
A stay at Château St. Philippe represents the best of the ThirdHome experience. The château is breathtakingly sited, high on a hill in a valley surrounded by dramatic mountains, with views of snowcapped Mont Blanc from the terrace. Within an hour’s drive are dozens of towns and cities to explore, along with vertiginous mountain roads and hiking trails offering spectacular views and wilderness experiences. Dating from 1032, the château retains the architectural echoes of 1,000 years of history, yet has been renovated to 21st-century standards. The bedrooms have incredible views and impeccably clean and modern ensuite bathrooms. Numerous “public” spaces such as the living rooms, salon, library, game room, and theatre allow guests to come together and/or find private sanctuaries. The owner was wonderful—responsive and flexible when, due to the pandemic, we needed to cancel the reservation twice, and reschedule for a third time. Touches throughout the château show the level of care and generosity the owners offer their guests: luxe toiletries in each bathroom; a bounty of delectable goodies as a welcome, and the incredible breakfast buffet every morning with an array of croissants, pastries, yogurt, fruit, juices, jams, granola, tea, and coffee. A stay at Château St. Philippe is a perfect experience for families and groups of friends. But, I would be remiss not to mention Virginie and Jean-Marc, the couple who look after the property and its magnificent grounds and gardens. They are warm, welcoming, helpful, and responsive; they spoke English well enough to make guests feel secure, and were gracious enough to indulge our massacring of the French language. Their nine-year-old son won the hearts of all guests with his friendliness, enthusiasm, humor, and creativity as a talented young artist who spends hours a day drawing. We couldn’t help ourselves, and on the last night of our stay had a pool-side ceremony to present him with an artist's-quality set of pastels, drawing tablets, tools, and fixatif to enable him to start working in pastels. He was delighted and touched, and went around to every single guest, saying in English, "Thank you very much." I don't think there were many dry eyes in the house, er, Château. ”

May 2022Extraordinary!
The restoration of an 11th century monastery is truly remarkable. Sitting out on the terrace while enjoying breakfast, with a few for miles, is a perfct start to the day. Virginie and Jean Marc are delightful and Virginie and I became friends in only a week. Truly a unique experience.”
