July 4th at the Chesapeake Bay Treehouse

Do you enjoy water sports, seafood, and national history? Then this home is perfect for your visit. Located across the South River bridge from Annapolis is a quiet town called Edgewater, MD wherein is the Chesapeake Bay Treehouse. Our family visited for the 4th of July holiday week. We were pleasantly surprised by the space and comfort this property offered. It accommodated my family of six and the pictures do not do this home justice. The 3 tier plus one loft layout offered a cozy and intimate environment for the family to come together in the living room play games. The master bedroom, living room, and dining room all offered views of the dock and bay. The private first floor bedroom showcases a queen size bed with a sliding door, the living room a balcony, and the dining room access to the deck which has a grill and outdoor dining. All the rooms had plenty of glass and shades to offer views and screening as desired for privacy and shade. Our family loves to cook and eat together. The kitchen was well stocked with complimentary condiments and coffee. There is a complete coffee station to boil water, nespresso, classic drip, and french press! The kitchen is industrial sized with plenty of pots, pans, and other cookware and utensils to cook any recipe you can conjure up on it's 6 burner gas stove. The dock is clean and pathway lush green with plant-life. There are numerous species of birds and other wildlife in the bay. The bay bottom is relatively clear for casting for fish. The kayaks and and paddle-board were enjoyable to explore the bay. The private location allowed easy access to local conveniences and a 30 minute drive brought you to the heart of Annapolis Maryland where we explored the colonial areas and the main harbor. We enjoyed the freshest seafood and witnessed their spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. We highly recommend this home for any modest sized family who enjoys water sports, American history, and seafood.”

Beautiful waterfront views

A very tranquil, comfortable home surrounded by woods and on the water. Great kitchen and comfortable shared spaces esp. the dining and great room areas. We enjoyed wine and sunsets on one of the decks.. and some kayaking and an aft on an SUP. Good to know - really only 2 bedrooms [both ensuite which are the only bathrooms]. There is an attic loft accessed by a ladder in a closet so likely best for children; also one needs to climb a few stairs to reach any of the rooms - clearly an architectural design to offer great views from every room. Annapolis itself was about a 20 minute drive and is a wonderful little city - we have lived in N. Va and never really explored the area and it is a pleasure - some excellent dock restaurants, very hospitable people, historic homes and small museums... worth a quick stop at the visitors' center. suggestion: take a tour of the Naval Academy, We had friends in the area and spent a perfect Sat on their boat docking on the E. Shore for a fun stop for lunch. The host is gracious and easy to reach. Highly recommend. ”

Bay living

We had a wonderful time. The location is great because you feel like you are far out in nature but so close to many cities and activities. We really enjoyed the bay and watching the boats go by. The set up of the house was not convenient for more than 4 people. ”

Setting is wonderful

Wonderfully tranquil. Windows everywhere, with interesting views from all. Secluded but not remote. Host is extremely responsive. Lots of personality and was wonderful in early autumn…you may need to mind the fireplace in dead of winter. Don’t miss the Old Stein Inn German restaurant.”

Awesome

This house is a gem. It sits it on a heavily wooded lot overlooking the Rhode River. The setting is uniquely peaceful because the opposite shore is a YMCA retreat. There is ample seating and deck space outdoors to enjoy the view. Common areas are very comfortable, as are the bedrooms. The kitchen is huge, with two double sinks and spacious counters for food prep; and it is laid out in a way that is very easy to use. There are lots of indoor and outdoor games as well as paddle craft to play with, and easy access to county parks and historic Annapolis. The owner is incredibly helpful and informative about the house, as well as nearby sights and attractions. We had a terrific time!”

Peaceful retreat with boat access

Our family had a lovely late summer stay in this attractive and peaceful house on a quiet creek of the Chesapeake Bay. The decor and furnishings are handsome and in keeping with the modern architecture, and the house is very well equipped. The landscaping and extensive tree canopy are beautiful; neighbors and even a large marina are close by but you are not aware of them. The private dock allowed us to rent a boat (via Boatsetters) for the week for visits to nearby dockside restaurants, cruising and just anchoring up in a quiet cove. Our host, Paul, was terrific; he responded promptly to our inquiries, made fun toys at the house like kayaks and corn hole accessible to us, and even provided charts with his notes on the nearby waterways. Highly recommended. We hope to return.”

Wonderful water views

Scott’s design forward house with glass walls sits on a fabulous spot with wonderful water views on several sides. The clever landscaping provides a cover from houses and the marina nearby. It was a perfect coronavirus getaway separated from the house nearby. And Scott was a wonderful host, quickly responding to our questions. The only issue was the sun was so strong on one side that a lovely room was unusable.”

Secluded Retreat

''This house is architecturally unique and attractively furnishinged. The views are spectacular. It sits on a beautifully landscaped wooded lot that makes you feel like you're all alone yet the house is located in a developed area outside of Annapolis MD. The land surrounding the cove is all woods, so you don't see other houses unless you look to the side, which increases your sense of isolation. The one thing we missed was TV and WiFi. Living in "interesting times", we're glued to the news.”

Perfect water front location for small family get away

We enjoyed this place very much during the July 4th week with our two grandsons, Daughter & son-in-law !! We kayaked up & down Rhode river and rented a boat, visited D.C. monuments and Smithsonian, had a Crab dinner at a local spot, watched the fireworks, visited Annapolis etc. plenty of things to share with family, had a wonderful family vacation !! House is very nice & comfortable, well equipped and great water front location. Thank you so much Scott & family !! ”

A perfect getaway

The home is beautiful--bright, open, and architecturally interesting. The location and views are hard to beat. This home is in a quiet sleepy neighborhood but easily accessible to Annapolis, Washington, DC and Baltimore. It is much larger than it looks on the website. My sister and I took our kids for the week and there was something for all of us. Fishing, kayaking, crabbing, long walks, short trips to town. Highly recommended!”
